On Sunday morning I was up around 6AM and got a load of dishes in the dishwasher before starting on my post. I stopped at 7:30AM to get a shower and ready for the day, and then finished the post.
I went out and started setting up the kitchen and for doing notes and seeds. I finished cleaning up the kitchen too.
My #1 intern and my general helper were up around 9AM and made breakfast. Then we got started.
My general helper set about finishing washing the trays and domes. My #1 intern set about finishing the notes on setting up the living room windows and setting them all up. We had a problem with the new shelving sliding on the new brackets. The shelves were only 1” wider than the brackets and with a cat…
So I got some blue painters tape and ran it around the shelf wire and bracket and it completely fixed the problem. So she did the remaining 5 shelves.
She went to hang the top light and we quickly realized we’d forgotten to make top shelves to hang that light from.
I was trying to get notes made so they would know what to plant and where it went and also keeping an eye on everything else. Once we discovered the missing shelves, it became obvious to me that I had not made the chain hangers for the living room lights correctly.
They hung tilted to one side. So I took down each one, added a link to the chains, moved the hooks, and they hung straight.
I finally finished all the seeds and notes and it was 1:30PM. We’d not eaten lunch so I whipped up Annie’s organic mac and cheese and some of my green beans for vegetable. Those 2 ate on the fly but I sat down for mine. They were trying to finish the last 5 trays.
They got them all set up to do but we all had to stop planting at 2:30PM to get ready to go to the movie. The kitchen was left trashed until I could finish the planting on Monday. We were all quite pleased with all we got done on Sunday.
For such a big kitchen, we often seem to run out of space for big projects!
My sister on Friday had been complaining about the dearth of decent movies in Farmington, NM but one had appeared about a science teacher who gets put in a space ship to go save the earth. She didn’t know the name of the movie but was going with friends on Saturday to see it.
When my general helper arrived on Saturday afternoon, it was announced they were going to see Project Hail Mary on Sunday afternoon before she went back to Boston. I was invited to go too. So I looked it up to see if I wanted to go and it was the same one my sister saw on Saturday!
A group of us met at the theater and we headed in to see the movie. We all liked the movie and discussed it on the way home. My #1 intern went to the co-op for suppers for us and we ate them around 7PM.
I got a photo of the living room at night and also showing how far we got in filling shelves elsewhere.
I got the shades pulled and fires started, but didn’t get to bed until 9:30PM.
On Monday I may have as many as 5 trays to do, and the mess to clean up. I need to check all the trays to make sure they are in the right place. I also need to water them all. The 2 helpers did some watering before we left for the movie.
I need to check the lights are all at the right height, the timers are set correctly, and move a fan from the back porch to the office for the leeks. I’m obviously not going to exercise class. Fortunately I don’t have PT until Tuesday. It’s to be a warm day, cloudy but in the 60’s and I’m hoping to get started on another garden, but that’s probably wishful thinking….
