On Thursday I was up at 5AM and got started. I got the kitchen cleaned up and then set up for seed starting. There was a possibility that my #1 intern would arrive around 7AM, so I wanted to get as much done as I could before that.
I took this at 6:15AM and you can see the sun is well up through the kitchen window.
Once I had everything set –up, I started on the seeds, markers and notes. I had about 7 of the trays’ seeds ready when she arrived. I kept working on the notes and she went down and got the pots and soil.
She filled them, watered them and started planting seeds. As soon as I finished the notes, I started filling and watering and she kept planting.
We filled the roundtop first.
Three went into the Porch north side.
And 3 went into the porch south side.
And finally we carried the rest into the office and nearly filled that. I made sure all the trays had plenty of water and the lights were at the right heights.
There was only the broccoli in the dining room window, so I moved them to the roundtop. So there’s nothing in the dining room window for the next 2 weeks.
We finished about 11:30AM. We never thought we’d finish, never mind early. I got a call from the screen repair place and they’d lost 2 of the screens. So my #1 intern drove me down there to make sure the screens they had marked for me, were mine. They finished them later in the afternoon and my helper friend picked them up.

My helper friend arrived at noon and we went out and got everything we’d need for putting up pea fences. Then we started moving the mulch. By 2PM I was exhausted and had to stop. He finished this section and stopped.
That’s when he went to get the screens and when he got back he vacuumed the first floor for me.
I was beyond exhausted and went to bed early. It had been a cool day, but windy and that just takes it right out of me.
On Friday, if it’s not windy, we will be making the amendment for the 3 big gardens. If it is windy, we will resume work on the pea fences. I have PT in the afternoon. And the contractor is coming to try to fix the bulkhead door, again.
