Over the weekend, Larry really liked the wood stove going too. He’s even a little bit closer than I am here.
On Tuesday morning I planned to finish the laundry and clean the kitchen, but I got side tracked.
When I pulled the shades up I noticed the lights needed to be raised for the tomatoes. But they didn’t go any higher, so that meant the tomatoes would have to move to the porch where there were higher lights.
If they did that, then the 2 trays in the dining room window could move to the roundtop window. If they did that, I could take down all the lights in the dining room and keep the house cooler when it hit 80F by afternoon.
So I got all the lights out of the dining room window, the shades back in, and my brother helped me hang the curtains. I didn’t get anything put away as I figured I could do that on a rainy day.
I’d planned to go out and plant some more flowers but after all that I wasn’t up to it. I have 3 pictures hanging in the stairwell to the 2nd floor. For some reason, one gets knocked down every so often. The last time broke the frame beyond repair (but never the glass...). I had gone out hunting for a match to it on Saturday with no joy. So I ordered all new frames for the 3 and they came in on Monday.
So I spent the rest of the morning transferring the pictures to the new frames.
It’s the top one on left. Not a great photo but they were hard to access for it.
I wasn’t ready when my helper friend arrived at 9:30AM so he went out and got all the equipment and the tomato and pepper poles while I got ready.
First I planted all the flowers in the first half of the garden and got them mulched. Then we planted celery, dill, artichokes, and parsley and got them mulched. It was a short day, just 3 hours. But we were both done when we finished. It had started to get hot out there.
Rugosa roses – first flower and a bud
I took it easy the rest of the afternoon and was in bed by 8PM.
On Wednesday I have to move the seedlings to the cold frame, except the basil. Over the weekend it’s to drop into the upper 40’s at night and then stay warmer. The basil can go out once that happens. Then I have to feed all the seedlings in the cold frame.
I’m hoping to get some work done on the flowerbeds, but we will see. My friend who had surgery in February is coming to visit in the afternoon and the lawnmower repair guy is coming to get the rider to fix the accelerator pedal issue. So another busy day.
