The joy that comes with using produce from your garden to cook is second to none. The excitement of literally reaping the “fruit of your labour” is out of this world and to crown it all up, you are able to save cost and eat healthy? Terrific!
It’s amazing how you literally watch these crops grow right before your very eyes. They grow from tiny seeds to full crops ready for consumption, wow! It truly is rewarding, if you ask me.
Tending to our gardens can be exhausting sometimes but when it’s time to harvest all the goodness there in, we forget about all the stress and focus on the result.
The result makes it worth the stress.
Eating produce from your garden is healthier and safer. You aren’t worried about your food being exposed to dangerous chemicals or the fear of eating anything unripe as you know your food, you know how they were being grown and you treat them accordingly.
Today was a lazy day for me. It was one of those days when I didn’t have the energy to go to the market to get things to cook but I was hungry. I’m talking about the type when you’re too hungry, angry, and too tired to go get things to cook and you just have to wait for manna to fall from heaven.
Did manna fall from heaven? It did fall but not from heaven but from the garden.
I stared at the vegetables growing healthy in our garden and I knew the perfect meal to prepare. “Vegetable soup!”
The vegetables look so healthy and nutritious all thanks to my aunt for taking good care of them. Tending to the garden is one thing she does out of fun rather than as a chore. She enjoys doing it and doesn’t hesitate to boast of her gardening skills whenever we eat anything from her garden.
We give her her flowers as she deserves them for tending to the garden daily. It’s not an easy task but she does them willing and also enjoys doing it.
I immediately went to the garden. I gathered as many vegetables as I could and headed to the kitchen to whip something nice.
I had some ingredients and beef in the house, so it was easier and faster to cook the vegetable soup in no time.
Our peppers are growing so well and in no time we will be able to harvest them. I can’t believe how wonderful they look.
This garden of ours saved me from a lot of stress today. I didn’t have to go to the market anymore as going to the market meant taking two buses but I was able to whip something up in no time. Fresh from the garden and straight into my stomach, easy peasy, lemon squeezy🥰
Over to you guys; do you have a garden? How often do you use produce from your garden to cook? I’d love to read your thoughts in the comment section.
