Hello dear HiveGarden family, this post is my first post in this community and I am . I have been spending more time with plants lately, I am in a period when I am more interested in plant care. I want to show you my white orchid that I have and I want to share the things I have done and will do for its care, I hope you will be interested.
White orchids were a flower my boyfriend bought for my mum. My boyfriend and the people around me told me that this plant does not need a lot of water and that I should not give too much water. The information card in the plant pot also said to water once a week. So I decided to water it every Monday and gave it very little water on Monday. On Tuesday, the leaves of the plant seemed dry to me and I preferred to give it a little more water.
I don't want to kill this plant because I couldn't take good care of the flowers bought for me before. This plant is important to me and it looks easy to take care of :)) So I wanted to do some research to make sure what this plant needs. I found a Youtube channel and watched it and got some useful information.
In the video, it was mentioned that the colour of the roots is very important for watering the plant. When I checked my own plant, I saw a vivid dark green root colour, which means that it is saturated with water and does not need watering. When the root colour turns to grey, it is necessary to water. I will check this from time to time.
In addition, it should not be exposed to direct sunlight. I decided to put my plant, which I first thought to put on the balcony, in a corner of the living room due to the temperature values written on the information card. It also looked very good in the living room as decor. If only it gave nice smells, then the living room would smell like a fragrance, but unfortunately, my plant is odourless, at least I don't smell it, maybe because I have the flu, but I don't think so because I notice the fragrance of my roses when I enter my own room.
Another thing I learnt from the video about the care of this plant is that when the plant starts to shed its flowers, it is necessary to cut the branch with the flowers. If the branch is not cut, the drying will reach the root and the plant will dry out. If the branch is cut and cinnamon powder is placed on the cut, the plant can be saved without any problem. I also learnt from the video that cinnamon powder protects the plant from germs. There was very useful information for me on this youtube channel, I hope I can be of some use to you with the information I shared in this post, thank you for taking the time to read it, good week.
