After a long journey that has made me at least somewhat proficient in growing hydroponically at home for almost 8 years, I want to show you, Hivers, how I sow water spinach seeds very easily, with minimal errors, and I guarantee you can do it at home. But, this is just a journey, based on experience, not expertise.
I using Bangkok water spinach, as I posted on my blog about hive garden journal last week. So, you can use any water spinach seeds you have. Usually, I soak them overnight in warm water (not boiled water), as that will kill them and make them unusable.
Tips for warm water: 3 cups of cold water, 1 cup of hot water. Mix and let sit for 2 minutes. To do this, pour 100 grams of water spinach seeds and cover (still allow air to enter cause the seed need oxygen). Then, use a closed container that is out of reach of light. Soak for 40-48 hours, but please check periodically after 40 hours.
The result? You can see my water spinach seedlings on the red tray. They've already sprouted white stems and are ready to be transplanted into a 105 holes seedling tray.
I put in cotton, or you can also use dacron, as long as it's not too dense, so the roots that grow will be able to move freely in the tray.
You can put 5-6 water spinach seedlings in one hole filled with dacron, then fill it with water to submerge the seedlings.
The question is: is the water a mixture of AB mix? Hydroponic fertilizer?
The answer is: yes, it can be no. For best results, I use AB mix with a slightly lower ppm. I usually use under 300 ppm for one seedling tray. Now, wait 5-7 days; this will determine whether your hydroponic water spinach will be successfully transplanted into the hydroponic box or not.
It will be a bit tiring at this point, as it's a hassle to transplant them twice. You can wait for the process while learning by doing. We'll be monitoring it next week. So, can you be curious? Sure, me too.
Call me Isdarmady, sometimes Mady, Putra or anything you want. I have a pretty long name but call me very nicely. There are many things I like, especially hydroponics and coffee, sometimes I also like traveling and eating whatever I want. Life should be like that, there must be many things you like so you can live well. Of course, what you want is a dream, so, when you have a dream then what you have to do is to achieve that dream, don't just let it be a dream.
There are many things I tell on my Blog, I hope you like it. Never hesitate to leave a comment, because your comments mean so much to keep me moving forward.
My english so bad, but I try to be better. I hope we can be friends without thinking about our backgrounds. Let's keep this community better and better known by the wider community.
