Hello Gardeners
How are you today ? I hope and pray, we are all always given health and also happiness in living this life. I am also very happy, finally given the time and opportunity to be able to participate and contribute again to the HiveGarden Community. As usual, I will share my stories and activities this week in my hydroponic garden. Keep watching my post this time.
Hydroponic Garden Conditions in Early July
So, we will invite friends to see the condition of my hydroponic garden in general. For sure, at the beginning of July I am very happy to see the condition of my hydroponic garden which looks very beautiful and also healthy. I came to believe in the articles I've read that gardening can give us health and happiness. One thing is important, the plants we grow in our garden grow well.
For myself, gardening has become my daily activity. I work in my hydroponic garden, and get two benefits, namely getting money and also making my body more active. I believe, gardening is also a sport. I think one day gardening activities will be competed in sports week.
At the beginning of July, I have planted all of my hydroponic growing media with various types of vegetables. I grow a lot of vegetables such as pakcoy, lettuce, mint and also kangkong. So, we will see how the condition of all these vegetables one by one.
Condition of Pakcoy in My Hydroponic Garden
For the first time, I will invite my friends to see the condition of the pakcoy that I plant in my hydroponic garden. Since I started learning about hydroponics, pakcoy is the vegetable that I chose to study. For beginners, pakcoy is an easy vegetable to plant and the seeds are easier to sow than other vegetables. Actually, kangkong is also easier but kangkong is less desirable because it is considered a vegetable that is cheap and easy to find in the market.
This week, I transferred about 300 pakcoy seedlings ready to be planted into my hydroponic medium. I moved these pakcoy seeds last Friday, assisted by my father. There are specific standards or criteria for seeds that can be transferred to the planting medium. Pakcoy seeds must have three or four leaves before being transferred to the hydroponic media. Currently, the pakcoy that I planted mini was about 12 days old after sowing.
For the initial phase of Pakcoy, I use a liquid fertilizer solution with a concentration of around 1000 ppm. According to the literature I've read, for pakcoy to grow properly it requires a liquid fertilizer solution concentration of around 1000-1400 ppm. I am also very happy because I have been able to get rid of rat infestation in my hydroponic garden. According to my experience, rats are natural enemies of pakcoy.
Conditions of Lettuce in Hydroponic Gardens
Next, I invite my friends to see the condition of the salad that I grow in my hydroponic garden. In my opinion, lettuce is the favorite vegetable in my hydroponic garden this July. Why do I say like that?
As you can see? This salad that I planted grew very pretty. All lettuces grow green and the leaves grow beautifully curly. I myself, can't wait for the harvest moments for this lettuce. I have lettuce with two different planting ages.
On the balcony of the second floor of my house, I have about 250 pots of lettuce which I planted using Styrofoam media used for grapes using the Wijk system. Currently, the lettuce that I plant is about 29 days old after seeding. During this planting period, I used a liquid fertilizer solution with a concentration of around 600-700 ppm.
If friends pay attention and compare it to my journal hydroponics last week, the lettuce that I planted experienced very significant growth. As I often say, if lettuce is grown in hydroponic media it will experience significant growth after entering the third week of growth.
Besides that, I have about 400 pots of lettuce with a planting age of about 34 days after sowing. During this planting period, I used a liquid fertilizer solution with a concentration of around 800 ppm. You can also compare the current condition of the lettuce with last week, the growth looks very fast.
The lettuce that I planted grew very well and optimally, none of the lettuce was damaged or attacked by pests. Apart from that, the growth of this lettuce also looks very uniform, it looks like next week I will be able to harvest these vegetables.
If friends pay attention, I took a picture of some lettuce that I just rinsed with water. The wet state of the lettuce looks really pretty to me. Seeing these photos, I am very excited about gardening in my hydroponic garden.
Condition of Kangkong in My Hydroponic Garden
Next, I invite my friends to see the condition of the lettuce that I grow in my hydroponic garden. Kangkong is one of the favorite vegetables for many people in Indonesia, and also people of Asia. Kangkong is very easy to grow and develop, both in conventional farming systems with soil or with hydroponic farming systems that use water.
This week, I have harvested all the kangkong that I have planted in my hydroponic garden. I get about 11 kilograms of kangkong which I sell for around IDR 15K (1 USD). So, I earned about 11 USD with kangkong which only took about 20 days to harvest. Tantalizing, isn't it?
After harvesting, I immediately replant. Previously, I had sown the kangkong seeds in preparation for planting around 250 kangkong pots. Last Saturday, I transferred about 250 pots of these kangkong seedlings to my hydroponic growing medium. During this planting period, I used a liquid fertilizer solution with a concentration of around 1000 ppm.
I saw the growth of the kangkong that I planted in the initial phase showed very good growth. I'm curious to see how it grows in the next week.
Mint Leaves Condition in My Hydroponic Garden
Finally, I invite my friends to see the condition of the mint leaves that I plant in my hydroponic garden. Mint leaves are one of my favorite vegetable products in my hydroponic garden. Mint leaves are the most profitable agricultural product in my hydroponic garden, I have received many financial benefits since I planted mint leaves in my hydroponic garden.
Last week, I told you about the process of sowing mint leaves. I sowed the mint leaf seeds using stem cuttings, as you can see in my photo. Mint leaves grow very well and optimally. It seems that next week I can transfer the mint leaves to my hydroponic medium.
The mint leaves that I grow in my hydroponic garden use PVC hydroponic media. All of the mints I am currently growing are going through their early growth phase. The growth is very good, and it looks like next week it can be harvested.
Okay, that's all my weekly journal hydroponics this time. See you next week.
