Hydroponic Planting System for the Future
Since I joined Hive in September 2021, I always try to stay active and participate in this community. Every Monday, I always make a post about vegetable gardening with a hydroponic system. If friends often stop by my blog, of course it's no secret that I have a hydroponic garden in my house with a capacity of about 1800 planting holes. I grow various kinds of vegetables such as pakchoy, kale, lettuce or mint leaves.
Hydroponics is one of the modern planting systems that is being favored by many people today. Hydroponics allows people to own a farm or grow a variety of vegetables in a narrow plot of land or area. Therefore, hydroponics is very suitable for urban farming. We can use the front of the house, walls, or if we have a rooftop, we can plant a hydroponic system there.
There are many benefits that we get by growing vegetables in our homes, first we can get fresh vegetables that are free from pesticide residues. Hydroponic vegetables do not use chemical pesticides to repel any kind of disease. Usually, we use plant-based pesticides such as garlic, chili or tobacco to ward off insect attacks. Therefore, the hydroponic system is very suitable for people who care about the environment.
I try to always be consistent to be able to write this hydroponic journal and also the most important thing to make my hydroponic garden always produce vegetables. I try my best and maintain the right work rhythm so that there is no empty planting medium. Like this week, I have grown all the hydroponic media that I have with vegetables.
The Condition and Development of Pakchoy in the Hydroponic Garden
I want to invite my friends to see the condition of pakchoy in my hydroponic garden, Pakchoy is a vegetable that I always grow in my hydroponic garden. Almost every planting period, I never miss this vegetable. Packhoy is easy to develop, has a very good selling price and is resistant to pests and insects. In addition, in the hydroponic system, the texture and shape of pakchoy is very beautiful, so some people like to grow vegetables in hydroponic media to beautify the page.
In last week's post, I told about the process of transferring pakchoy seeds to my hydroponic media. This time, I want to share photos of the condition of this pakchoy. Maybe, in my hydroponic garden there are about 650 pots of pakchoy with 16 days of planting after sowing. All these pakchoy vegetables grow very fertile and optimally.
I used a liquid fertilizer solution with a concentration of 1000-1100 ppm in this planting period. I think that the weather conditions that often rain and strong winds that often occur in my city make me have to think again if I apply liquid fertilizer with a high concentration. I also checked the condition of the roots in several netpots, because I wanted to detect root rot disease that often occurs in some of my friend's hydroponic gardens.
Conditions and Development of Lettuce in Hydroponic Gardens
Besides pakchoy, lettuce is also a vegetable that I always grow in my hydroponic garden. Lettuce is a unique type of vegetable, because lettuce is generally grown in highlands such as hills or mountains. However, hydroponics allows lettuce to be grown in lowlands like in my hydroponic garden.
I planted about 250 pots of lettuce, and 50 pots were ready to be harvested. I use hydroponic liquid fertilizer with a concentration of about 700-800 ppm. This lettuce grows very beautiful, its leaf color is green and curly which is very optimal. I also made about 200 pots of lettuce which I just transferred to the growing media this week. I put it on the second floor balcony of my house.
Conditions and Development of Kangkong in Hydroponic Gardens
In addition to the two vegetables I told you earlier. In my hydroponic garden, I always grow kangkong. This vegetable is a vegetable that is very easy to find in Asia but people from America and Europe rarely know about this vegetable. I've seen Indonesian students' youtube content that tells about kangkong being an illegal vegetable in America.
Kangkong is very easy to cultivate. This vegetable requires and consumes a lot of water in order to grow properly. Actually, without the need for planting, we can find kangkong in ponds or swamps but such kangkong is not kept clean. Often, people find insects in kangkong grown by this method.
Kangkong grown with a hydroponic system is guaranteed to be cleaner. During the seven years I have been growing kangkong and consuming hydroponic kangkong, I have never found any insects in this kangkong stem. I have two kangkong planted with two different planting ages. The big kangkong is 21 days after sowing and I will harvest it today. The smaller kangkong is the kangkong with the age of 14 days after sowing and it looks like I will be harvesting next week.
Next, I invite you to see the condition of the vegetables and mint leaves that I grow in my hydroponic installation. I have three PVC pipe installations that I assembled with the circulation model. I used two hydroponic pipe installations to grow mint leaves. Mint leaves grown with a hydroponic system will grow better than mint leaves grown conventionally.
In my Hydroponics Vertikulture, I grow bitter mustard for my family's consumption. I used the side wall of my house and conditioned it to be used as a growing medium. The use of walls for hydroponic media is often done, because it is considered easier and also efficient.
Okay, here's my hydroponics journal this week. See you next week.
Call me Isdarmady, because I have a full name that is very long, namely Isdarmady Syahputra Ritonga. I am a head of the family who work as Farmers Vegetables Hydroponic and Consultant Hydroponics, sometimes I also sell coffee from various regions in Indonesia.
I have expertise dispensing coffee with a variety of techniques and tools brewing, because I have the desire to make a coffee shop with hydroponics as centerpieces. Help me realize that dream.
Thanks for read, vote, re-blog and support me in Hive. Maybe god will reward the kindness, let’s success together.
