Hello beautiful #Hivegarden community. This is my first post in the #GardenJournalJulyChallenge thanks to the invitation of . I decided to participate in this challenge because I still have time to publish and as I have started to relate to plants 🌿 I feel motivated, since I am studying rural engineering career and in this semester I have done several projects related to flora.
1.- Making a layering. I already showed the steps if you have not seen it I invite you link, waiting for the result.
2.- Planting of plants in a space of the institution Unexpo, Lara street.
3.- I have in process the preparation of a biofertilizer, soon I will show the steps.
4.- Visit of an Agricultural School.
5.- Visit of a nursery.
I am going to develop point No. 2.
This project is related to the transplanting of potted plants to land 🌿 conditioning a space of the university institution to complement an activity supported with citizenship, students, and mayor's office. The planting of 1000 shrubs and ornamental and fruit trees in our city. Each student and professor of the university campus donated 3 to 4 seedlings to consolidate a space that will be a garden, coordinated by the professor of agricultural production technology. We are three members, last week we did the first part of the planting which consists of aloe vera, crown of Christ, dracaena, purpurinas. These plants are of warm climate. The plan is to use plants that are resistant to the city's climate.
PROCESS:
We proceeded to mix several types of soil to fertilize the transplant (organic matter, sand, worm humus and sawdust) to obtain good drainage (porous space). And that the root of the plant have a good grip and adds nutrients and favorable microorganisms for them.
The hole was opened according to the size of its roots.
It was taken out of the previous pot with care not to damage the roots.
It is planted in the hole and the compost is added.
The soil was pressed into the stem to make it solid.
The necessary watering was done.
I was very satisfied with the transplanting work, and this coming week we will continue with the planting of other plants such as: grass, ixoras, St. George swords, capachos, green elephant ears, cayenne, trinitarias and others.
It will also depend on their size, if they are very small they will remain in pots and the bigger and stronger ones will be planted in the ground.
My mom is passionate about her garden and has helped me with projects, she has also helped me by donating some of her plants such as olive trees and trinitarias. I get excited when she supports me with a plant and also with her knowledge. When I studied in high school she donated several ixoras for the garden, but unfortunately they died because they were never watered there. There was no maintenance plan.
I would like to tell you that we still have the courage to fight and conserve the environment, in spite of the economic adversities of the country. I have the idea of transmitting that it will be necessary to make a conservationist club to maintain this garden in time in order not to lose our work. Although other students from another subject will be in charge of making a drip irrigation system, what do you think is a good idea for the club?
By the way I invite to participate there is still time ⏳ ,
