Yesterday was another long day for me and a lot happened again. First of all, I was busy with the household chores. Believe it or not, doing them alone is no joke since your time is limited. You only have one body so you have to manage your time well. If you fail to manage it well then good luck to you really. I know mothers out there can relate to this one because they are the one who often stay at home to do these things.
Despite all my fatigue, I still took care of planting my ginger because it can be planted in a better container already. But even though I wanted to plant it, I had a problem and that was the container where I will plant it since there was no available here at home. So I asked grandma if there were any sacks available which I can use, she said there is but it has a hole. I said it's okay, there's a way to do it, so I took it and started to prepare the soil that I will use because it's getting late already.
When I'm planting, I used to check the soil before I'm going to use it since there might be pests that can destroy what I'm going to plant. That's why you can see in the picture below that I checked it thoroughly and I was not mistaken that there is. You can see the worms I found in the second picture and I can say that these are round worms. It may not be considered as a pest but I still removed it from the soil just to make sure that my plant is safe.
The sack below in the picture was the one I used. You may notice the two holes within it and with those it can't be use again as a container for rice. I recycled it and I'm glad that it turned out well. Just a little bit of patching the holes and it was as new again. This one is a perfect container for my ginger since the water will drained well in this. It's space is also a desired one for my ginger to develop new shoots.
While I was about to plant my ginger, I noticed something moving within my feet and it was my cat Asta. He wants to climb on my lap but I can't let him so he just plays with my feet lol. From his photo below I can tell that he's begging hihi.
The gingers that I planted have already a lot of leaves and the other one has a new baby already ready to grow into a healthy ginger. You can see it with the photo below. I want to plant more than that but I don't have more so that's only for now since ginger here in our market is very expensive.
Speaking of prices, there's a lot of farmers who harvested their gingers last month had no choice but to sell their products in a bargain price or cheap due to massive supply. Their price last month of ginger was $2 or 100 pesos for 5 kilos, so 20 pesos per kilo. We wanted to buy but it was far so we missed the chance. In this kind of situation, I hope that our goverment will engage to help these farmers because their products are just going to waste just like their tomatoes before that they just dumped it beside the river.
Aside from ginger, I also planted onion leeks last friday and I'm glad that they didn't die after I transplanted them into their new container. As I checked it yesterday, I can say that they finally recovered and developed new roots already because there are new shoots coming out. What a success.
I've tried planting it before but it kept on dying so I just gave up. But last week wednesday, grandma was able to get some from our neighbor here and she said that I'm going to plant it. I can't say no so I did it and I'm very happy to see them. In no time we can gather some of it for sure. I didn't watered it immediately after planting because it may cause for their roots to rot. I learned my lessons already lol.
After checking on my leeks and I was about to go inside when I notice something on my grandma's plant. I wonder what it was so I took a look at it closely and it was a beatiful butterfly. You can see it below.
And that concludes what happened to me yesterday wherein despite my tiredness I was able to plant something again that I can harvest soon.
Plant, plant and you'll survive.-jhero
