Who knows that by the power of gardening, the bond between my uncle and my family has grown stronger. Plants really connects us to those people who's also in this field and creates an amazing outcome.
Just yesterday, we visited them in the nearby municipality and had a lunch there since my uncle asked us to go there. He's also a gardener like the many of us here but what I can say is that he's a veteran in this field. I'm really amazed how he managed such small land and turned it into a garden full of edible plants.
So we go there before lunch and the first thing that caught my attention after arriving in their place was his garden. Even if it's 50 meters away from their house, I can really tell that he has a lot of plants again because it's covered in green.
I asked him about it and he said that I'm right. He planted eggplants and tomatoes, plants like the one I have. The difference is that they are not that fully grown yet.
Without further ado together with my grandmother, we went there to pay a visit. Also my uncle said so because he wants us to harvest some eggplants and if possible he wants us to get it all, because he will spray pesticide the next day or he will treamed it to grow new branches because there's a lot of harmful worms that's invading the eggplants.
He said that once the little eggplants will be sprayed by insecticides there's a possibility that it will be hardened and turn to waste. So we harvested it all hihi for free.
These eggplants are the long one that is used to make tortas, a filipino dish, a combination of grilled eggplant and egg. But as you can see in the photos that they are not that big anymore and it's because of the worms. Actually he made a good profit in it already despite that it's number is just more than 10 stems.
After the harvest, we got this many and my grandmother was very happy picking up those eggplants.
I helped her to pick and it's just so fun because there's a lot of it.
Next to it is his tomatoes which are overflowing of fruits in each of it. As you can see in the photos that his tomato plants are very generous in giving him such a good harvest.
How I wish that my tomato plant will give me those many tomatoes also. I thought that it's a different variety and I'm right. My uncle also promised me to give me some seeds soon for me to sow. I'm very happy about it and I'm looking forward in growing these kind of tomatoes.
My uncle also catched some shirmp for us and cooked it. This is one of the viand we had.
Planting bitter gourd, not a native one.
After lunch we go home at 3 pm in the afternoon and I was really motivated to plant something. I'm lucky enough to bring home some seeds of bitter gourd. My uncle gave some of his seeds that's already been sowed.
Actually one of the seeds were already sprouted and it's just a good sign that the other one will also sprout.
So without wasting any time, I began to searched for containers and my cousin just gave me her plastic cup that she used in school. Very perfect for sowing those seeds.
I prepared it then and filled it with the mixture of loam soil and rice hull as usual for better growth.
After that I immediately planted it and in the end I wraped it inside a plastic bag since I don't have a large container here where I can contained it.
Doing this one will fasten the growth of the seeds according to some experience that I had before. Well hoping that this will grow well so that I can plant it already and will harvest big bitter gourds.
And that's how my day went yesterday. It was filled with great things which made me happy.
Thank you for reading and I hope that you are happy also on how your day went this day.
