Growing plants is laborious, but harvesting its fruit is joyous
Hello Hive!
Welcome to my humble garden!
Last April 30, 2023, was the most awaited day of teachers, the evaluation day! We were so excited to know who would be the lucky winners. We have our bets already. Nonetheless, all of the hard work we have given is for students and the school.
Every year our school participated in the Gulayan sa Paaralan in which the Division Personnel will check if we have planted enough vegetables in our garden according to the criteria given. Also, the Sugbusog sa Eskwelahan Program is the first contest to consider. Wherein pushed by our Governor to restore the interest of students of agriculture.
But first, we were checked by a few Principals from another school, NGP Coordinators, and a barangay Councilor.
Before the evaluation day, we were given enough time to prepare our garden. From the criteria given, at first, there's a commotion going on๐ as part of the job and for the welfare of our students, we have to utilize our area. This area was given to me by since I am living on the third floor of a 3-storey building. I don't have a permanent area before that's why hopping to another area is what I do. Hence, I have my garden now, I have to make it most of my time (during my vacant).
Plants I Have Grown
First, a tomato, I got the seeds I've sown from the rotten tomatoes sold by my husband. Glad that it sprouts after two weeks of sowing. Now, it has fruits already, I can now see the work I have put in it.
Sangig or parsley, it gives aroma to our vegetable soup. We, Bisaya love this especially when we cook vegetable soup with more leaves of parsley and malunggay. The dinner is solved๐. It was brought by my student and then re-generated that's why much of it is in my garden.
I also have sili or chili pepper, actually, there are many of them but I only captured this. I have harvested them already. They were brought by my students as well but when they transferred here, they looks like a dwarf chili pepper ๐ but a lot of fruit.
Alugbati or spinach and an Eggplant, they were properly arranged and planted. Spinach is a fast-growing plant which almost every day I can harvest. The eggplant is I think not properly cared for because it only gives me one fruit and nothing more next.
My kangkong is as radiant as today's weather. The seeds were given to me by Ma'am Grace since she has more of them. By the time it grows, it's like unhealthy because it's different from other kangkong, it is thin. Again, I will put some manure then.
Varieties of flowers come from the neighborhood garden.
Spounge gourd, is the only vine in my garden. Growing this kind of plant has to put patience and hard work. Meanwhile, when it bears fruit, it's nonstop. Also, the okra or lady's fingers, where always bears fruit.
My head turner plant, sunflower, is one of the assets that my garden made to the top 7 (I guess?๐). It truly turns its flower to where the sun shines and it's lovely when the sun illuminates the glowing plant.
The other one has taken its exit. I nearly get its seeds so I can have another generation of sunflowers.
In addition, spring onions, pechay, and malunggay are also present in my garden.

The Hardwork Behind the Success!
The Result๐ฅฐ
I didn't expect that I and my students made it to the top 7! The winner of the evaluation has the most justified garden and no objection to that. My applause for them๐.
The work of a teacher is to teach and to touch lives however, there's a lot more to work to mold students academically, spiritually, morally, and agriculturally. Nowadays, students indulged in gadgets and as a way of another environment for them, they have to engage themselves in our garden.
That's it Hivers! Thank you for always reading my blog. 'Till next time. Bye.
