Another weekend has come and I feel like transplanting my lemon permanently in our yard. I've been planning this for quite a long time ago, however, this would be a perfect time as I am looking at it along with my other plants.
This is my lemon, here in local we call it lemonsito or calamansi. This was given by my mother-in-law way back in 2021. It's already been two years here in my yard. I have doubts about transferring this lemon since we just rented this lot where we built our house. Now, I made up my mind about what I think is good for my plant.
Wonders of Lemon
Lemon is useful for colds and coughs. You'll just have to steam it above your cooked rice and after a minute, get it, then sip its juice without sugar, it would be the best herbal medicine. In my case, I join it in boiled ginger then add a spoonful of sugar or honey so that it would be easy to swallow. Lemon has so many uses when it comes to eating raw fish with spices or we call it "kinilaw".
In the pot, its roots have been bigger and longer and it only has limited space if I can not take an action. Therefore, transplanting is the only way I think is possible. If the time comes that we'll be leaving this place, they already have this lemon. At times, I mulched it with dried leaves and shells of eggs. It has healthy soil as well. It's been bringing fruits the last few months but I harvested only one. Others were fallen and others were taken by our neighbors.
It's Time to Transplant
I dug an area where my lemon can fit and grow with life. Together with my other plants, I purposely put them nearby so that they would not be alone and lonely.
I had a hard time pulling it from its pot since it was rooted below. I also had fear since I am thinking of the roots probably breaking that it may lead to the death of my lemon. Nonono! Gradually pulling until it came out. Thank God that it's all right.
As I successfully pulled it, putting it into its permanent place is awesome in feeling in a way that I felt secured that it was safe there. The rest of the soil should be there as well.
Sparing a little time in my small garden makes me feel like I am at home. During the lockdown, this was my favorite thing to do. Each day, I have a new plant in my yard. I miss those moments, and now that we're back on track I seldom take care of my plants. Though there are holidays and weekends there's more important to do that day. Good thing that I will be able to see them whenever I go outside and do some changes if I want to.
Here's my lemon, beautiful and green! I watered it after transplanting. I am confident enough that it will survive since lemon loves a tropical climate and it's perfect here.
On the other day, I mulched it with egg shells and water again. The great advantage of mulching is to reduce the amount of water to evaporate so that the water will stay longer on the soil.
Spotted a new spring of leaves and I can tell that she was happy with its new place.
Changes on something is not bad, however, if it's for the betterment then take an action.
That's all for today Hivers, thank you for reading and stay tuned for more gardening blogs. Have a great day!
