Despite the slightly hot and humid weather, my plant care routine remains unchanged. The trash can you see in the picture used to hold food for my pet rabbits. However, it's no longer for them; now, I'm using it to create fertilizer for my plants in the soil.
I walked a considerable distance to collect vegetable leaves from the supermarket that had been discarded in the trash. These leaves were not dirty; some were still wrapped in plastic, while others were in boxes. However, their ultimate destination is to become compost in the soil.
Although it can be tiring in the hot and humid weather, a bit of patience is worth it. I'm also excited about what's to come, as I'll be planting squash, tomatoes, peppers, and string beans after this.
I've also initiated other practices, like collecting dry leaves to supplement or substitute the soil. In the Middle East, the soil predominantly consists of sand, offering limited nutrients.
Since it was still hot in the afternoon, even at 5:00 in the evening, I decided to work outdoors at night. However, it was still quite humid.
This is the only time I have to tend to my plants, so I'm making the most of it while the weather is still warm. Once it gets cold, making compost will become more challenging as it takes longer to dry.
I dug deep and layered the decomposing vegetable peels to ensure a balanced and rapid decomposition process. My main focus now is to ensure that the seeds I'll be planting are viable.
