"Chive Seeds"

I harvested chive seeds the other day. I was hanging chive flowers after they were harvested. See also chive vinegar article which I posted it before.

Chive seeds are very tiny and black. It's not so difficult to take off from the flowers. If you shake them, the seeds drop quickly. Sometimes, there are seeds inside the flower, so you have to use your fingers to open and get seeds from it. I like this kind of simple work because I don't think about complicated things which are not urgent things for now when I am touching flowers or plants. I simply feel the texture and do simple work. It's my selflessness (Anatman-Muga) time.

The planting season for chives is around early spring or late summer till autumn. I think I will keep the seeds till next spring and plant them early next spring.

"チャイブの種"

先日チャイブの種をとりました。チャイブの花を摘んだ後、干しておきました。チャイブビネガー の記事を前に投稿したことがありますので興味のある方はどうぞ。

チャイブの種はとても小さく黒いです。花から種を採るのはそこまで難しい作業ではありません。花をふれば大抵サッと種が落ちてきます。時々、花の中に種が詰まっていることがあるので、指で開けて種を取り出します。このような単純な作業が私は好きです。花や植物を触っているときは、特に緊急なことがあるわけではないため、小難しい余計なことは考えません。ただ、単純な作業を続けるだけです。言わば無我の時間です。

チャイブの種まきのシーズンは初春と晩夏〜秋の間に行うことが多いようです。種は来年まで保管しておいて来年の春に種蒔きをしようと考えています。
