Garden Flowers and My Dog
This season’s flowers are beautiful because the warm, stable temperatures and occasional rain showers make them vibrant and energetic. Just before the super hot weather arrives, the spring breeze still lingers for a while. This is the best season in my area. Some of the flowers have already finished blooming, but I’ll share some of the photos today.
The first photo is of a white Chinese peony. So elegant and beautiful. I’ve posted before about the famous phrase '立てば芍薬、座れば牡丹、歩く姿は百合の花'
(Tateba shakuyaku, suwareba botan, aruku sugata wa yuri no hana). Literally, “Standing like a Chinese peony, sitting like a tree peony, and walking like a lily.”
Yes, the way this peony stands truly resembles the image in that saying, just like the one blooming in my garden.
It’s standing on the hill. I saw it from the bathroom window, immediately climbed the hill to check on it, and said, “Hello again!” It has a slightly pinkish and yellow center.
These are apple blossoms, which have already finished blooming. They were so pretty and cheerful. It felt like they were smiling.
These blueberry flowers are also almost done blooming. They look like tiny lily-of-the-valley flowers. Now, they’ve turned into delicious-looking fruits. I can’t wait to eat them with my dog soon!
Buttercup flowers are widely spread near the blueberry field. My husband couldn’t cut them all, even though we needed to make a walking path. After they finish blooming, we’ll manage the leaves. Right now, they look like a carpet of yellow flowers.
These are morning glories. So tough and beautiful. In Japan, people often grow morning glories as a natural curtain near windows during the summer.
Morning glories contain toxic components that can cause diarrhea and abdominal pain, but they are also said to have medicinal uses. As strong or mild laxatives with diuretic and insecticidal properties, they are believed to help with conditions such as lower-body edema and urinary retention.
“Hi there!” he said. He looked a bit tired from our long morning walk. He loves to chill like this in our yard. However, he has to be careful about sneaky ticks. He already took his tick pills for this year, though.

庭の花と愛犬
今の季節は、暖かい天候と時折降るちょうどいい雨が、庭に咲く美しい花々を元気に保ってくれます。真夏の暑い天候になる前の、気持ちのいい風が吹いています。この地域は、今くらいの季節が一番いいです。写真に写っている花の中には、すでに開花が終了したものもありますが、共有していきたいと思います。
いちばん初めの写真は芍薬です。優雅で美しい花です。以前、「
立てば芍薬、座れば牡丹、歩く姿は百合の花」について書いたことがありますが、その芍薬の花です。まさに、小高いところに咲く芍薬の花は、そのフレーズの通りです。
バスルームの窓から、芍薬が咲き始めたのを見かけました。すぐに走って行って、今年分の挨拶をしました。うっすらとピンクがかった白で、真ん中が黄色に見えます。
これはりんごの花で、すでに花は終わっています。とてもかわいらしく元気な花です。笑っているように見えます。
ブルーベリーの花ももう終わりました。スズランにも似ています。今は、おいしそうな実に変化しています。犬と一緒に食べるのが楽しみで仕方がないです。
キンポウゲの花が、ブルーベリーの周りに咲き乱れています。主人が、かわいい花を刈ることができずに残したと教えてくれました。通常であれば、歩けるように小道を作るのですが、花が終わるまで待つことにしました。黄色のカーペットのように見えます。
これは朝顔です。強くてきれいな花です。日本では、夏になると、窓に朝顔の花をはわせて飾る人が多いですよね。
朝顔には毒成分があり、下痢や腹痛を起こしますが、利尿、殺虫を兼ねた峻下剤、緩下剤として下半身の水腫、尿閉症などに効能があるそうです。
私の犬がみなさんに「やあ！」と言っています。長い朝の散歩から帰宅して、疲れているのでしょうか。こうして庭の芝生の上で休むのがお気に入りです。しかし、マダニには要注意です。今年のマダニ予防の薬はすでに飲み終わりました。
