Trimming My Yard Trees
Some of the trees in my yard needed pruning after the recent hurricane. Fortunately, our trees weren't damaged by the hurricane, but some of them had grown too large. They were almost covering our window views and casting shadows.
When we hung our laundry outside, the trees were blocking the sunshine. My husband mainly worked on the ladder, trimming the trees. I assisted by ensuring his safety and holding the ladder steady. We also had to drag and remove the branches from the main yard.
Dragging the branches was quite tough work. The branches looked different when they came down than when we looked at them from above. As they came down, they appeared huge!
After trimming them, we had more sunlight and space, and most importantly, it changed our mood significantly. It felt very similar to getting a haircut. After cutting our hair, we usually feel refreshed and renewed. I think trees are the same way.
Taking care of the yard is not easy work. My mother is in Japan, and she also needed to trim her trees and manage her weeds. Of course, she couldn't do it herself. She hired a professional worker to take care of it. Her garden looked amazing as well. We both felt a bit melancholic about it because we sensed that winter might be approaching soon.
We had to clean up a bunch of branches three times the size of these branches.
These trees were blocking the sunshine.
We needed to trim them.
We don't have an automatic chainsaw, so my husband had to use hand saws. Phew! A lot of work!
We can see the sky more than before!

庭の木々の剪定をする
ハリケーンの後に庭の木を剪定しなければなりませんでした。幸運なことに、ハリケーンによるダメージはなかったのですが、かなり木や枝が伸び切ってしまったのです。窓の上に覆いかぶさって外からの光を遮断しつつありました。
洗濯物を外に干す時、太陽の光を遮っていました。わたしの主人が主に梯子の上にのって作業していました。私は梯子を下から押さえたり、剪定する木を支持する役割でした。剪定したあとに、中庭から枝を全て運びだしました。
枝を引っ張って移動する作業はなかなかの重労働でした。枝は切った後に下で見ると、頭の上にある状態と全然違います。下に下ろすとかなり大きく見えます。
剪定し終わると、太陽の光がかなり当たるのはもちろん、私たちの気分が一新したことが一番の変化でした。髪の毛を切る感覚に似ています。紙を切ると気持ちがリフレッシュして新鮮な気分になります。木も同じような気がします。
庭仕事は簡単な作業ではありません。ちょうど同じ頃、日本の母も庭仕事に追われていました。もちろん、母ひとりですることは不可能なので、プロの庭仕事作業をしてくれる人に頼みました。母の庭もかなりよくなりました。お互いに気持ちよくなった反面、冬がそのうちくるのを感じてちょっとメランコリーになりました。
この３倍の量の枝が剪定によって出ました。
これらの木々が太陽の光を遮断していました。
これらを剪定しなければなりませんでした。
電動ノコギリがないので、主人は手動のノコギリで切るしかありません。ふぅ！かなりの重労働です。
前よりかなり空が見えるようになりました。
