I photographed the flowering of this Passiflora while visiting a private botanical garden.
I was always surprised by this unusual flower.
I have this plant, but unfortunately its ovaries always fell off :-(
I asked the person who grows Passionflower and then sells its fruit to fruit shops.
It turns out that I made several mistakes!
So:
- Passionflower reacts negatively to temperatures above + 30 ° C.
And I put it where direct sunlight fell on it all day!
Summer in Cyprus quite often the temperature is + 42-49 ° C.
- Watering in spring and summer
Watering Passiflora is necessary often, to prevent the soil from completely drying out.
I often allowed the soil to dry out completely, so the ovaries fell off.
- Watering in autumn and winter
You need to water a little and not often.
I rarely watered, but a lot.
- Doesn't like drafts.
My Passionflower stood exactly in that place.
- Annual pruning is mandatory, it stimulates the intensive growth and branching of Passionflower.
I didn't cut it.
The only thing that was correct in her cultivation was that in the winter (dormant period) she was provided with a comfortable temperature for her + 10-14 ° C.
It's good that this temperature did not depend on me 😂
