I'm in doubt whether to write a garden journal or answer this week's question.
But I decided to write a garden journal today and answer this week's question tomorrow.
It's still winter here, the cold has disrupted our plans a bit. The winter has returned as it was before, and forced ours to rest.
But we wouldn't be us, if we just stood still
Our first project with plant germination failed, we started with another one and in the meantime I got all the necessary lighting for the plants. There is little sun and additional lighting is simply necessary at this time of year. And as I write this post, we are at a crossroads.
First I had to do a little tinkering to prepare the extension cord and the light sockets for the bulbs. I love playing with cables and bulbs, and that's my profession. The only downside is that I have to turn off all the lights I put around the house at night :)
We were in a bit of a hurry so we replanted some plants and made a makeshift seedling bed. We also added LED strips and bulbs. Actually, we're going to move it now.
Since that wasn't enough. Because we're constantly adding new plants, we had to decide to make a new seedling bed. I found some Styrofoam boards in the attic and glued them together with silicone. We made it like one big Styrofoam seedling bed.
I glued it all in the hallway, and this clear silicone really stinks and fumes. My head started to hurt. So I had to air everything out. We have to wait until tomorrow for the silicone to dry and air out before we can add it to the house.
There will be another progress journal in the coming weeks. And how we set everything up.
And here is a small successful project of my wife
She cut the green lettuce we bought, leaving the bottom part with the root. We ate the lettuce :) and she placed this part in a jar with water. And now the lettuce is coming again.
Thanks for reading.
Until next time.
Stay healthy.
