Hello everyone, I'm I am 40 years old, and gardening is a family business, we even included our son in it.
I've been on the Hive for almost three years, but I've been active in this wonderful @Hivegarden group for about a year.
I live in Serbia. More precisely, in the northern part of the country, which belongs to the province of Vojvodina, which is part of the larger European Pannonian Plain.
Officially, the climate here is temperate continental with four seasons. But in recent years, there have been oscillations.
Last winter was mild and almost snowless, so counting on that, I wanted to start a greenhouse in January this year. But the snow and the cold weather disturbed me, but that too will pass.
How and why I started gardening.
Well, I grew up in the countryside and I've always had contact with gardening
But a few things and or events were key to me dedicating myself to gardening more seriously
First, my heart surgery, in fact I owe my recovery to the garden. Where I learned to walk again, bend over, dig, do the right training at the right time. That opened my eyes
Another thing. Already frequent scandals in our country with food and fruit that were returned from the European Union due to the use of banned pesticides, antibiotics in honey and all sorts of other things. And the safest and most secure is to produce our own food. Because we strive for organic production, avoiding poisons as much as possible.
We discover some old methods of fighting pests and some new but healthy ones.
We garden primarily to produce food for our family. Of course, we share all the surplus and sell some of it. Although people from the city that I am in contact with know that I have a garden and are increasingly looking for healthy food. So this may be a small family business, but for now the emphasis is on producing food for ourselves.
Of flowers, I love roses and I have several. It's a sick love for this candle but I love them.
Of vegetables, I love radishes
Of fruits, red sweet cherries
In general, we love a lot of things, so in my garden you will find many types of vegetables, bush fruits and of course several different types of fruits.
Of course, there are also medicinal and spicy herbs.
A large yard and garden and we try to have as many types as possible.
It is a bit of a logistical nightmare because only for fruits each requires a special approach to pruning. But nothing is difficult when you want it. Both my wife and I love to learn.
The greatest lesson that the garden teaches is that we must stay in touch with nature. Because nature is the cure for many of our modern illnesses. The dedication we give to the garden repays us with healthy and healing fruits. It teaches us balance, patience.
Thanks for reading.
Until next time.
Stay healthy.
