Hello HIVE friends, everyone in this community, it's been a long time since I visited here, but I won't forget you here. Tonight I will share my experience of learning to plant corn with my neighbor, not only listening to the story but also taking part in seeing all the activities of planting corn from the start until the corn is ready to be harvested. I really enjoy this process even though this is not my own corn field. My neighbor is an old man who is almost 70 years old but still has strong energy to plant corn manually and he is very kind to me and my husband, never once did we not give him the produce of his garden as if we were also has the garden.
And one afternoon I saw that my neighbor was about to plant his corn seeds after 1 week previously the man had started cleaning up the weeds and burning them. The corn seeds that will be planted have been given medicine and these corn seeds are corn seeds containing two cobs. This means that when it bears fruit, each tree will have two pieces of corn ready to be harvested. The corn field is very large and is right in front of my house and next to my house too.
The hole distance between one corn seed and another is around 60 cm, he said. This is done so that the corn trees are not too close together and the trees will grow well, not too thin and the fruit will also be big later. Everything has been calculated, then the distance will also affect the process of caring for weeds and the fertilization process which is carried out periodically, not to mention the pest poison that will be sprayed so that the corn fruit will not be eaten by pests, because this corn will be sold later not only for personal consumption.
And the corn seeds that my neighbor planted have grown, the small shoots are visible and the age of the newly sprouted corn is about 10 days, but I forgot exactly how many days because I didn't count it. And the photos that I share are the process of my neighbor's corn trees until the corn trees bear fruit and are ready to be harvested. My neighbor planted the corn trees not at the same time so that the harvest would be continuous and uninterrupted, he said, so the money generated wouldn't be uninterrupted..ha..ha.. I don't understand my neighbor's concept but just understand. However, there were several trees that caught my attention, namely the corn trees planted next to my house, which looked like they were infected with disease because the trees were white. I don't understand whether this corn tree lacked proper care or whether it was infected by a virus from the start.
I tried to find out from the internet several factors why the corn tree was this color, one of which was because it was exposed to too much grass pesticide. Then the corn tree is damaged because it is attacked by planthoppers or a type of flea that attacks the corn tree. And it turns out I concluded that it is not easy to plant this corn. What do you think, are there other factors why this corn grows imperfectly like the one in my photo? Are you willing to share your knowledge with me? Find it in the comments column. And thank you, greetings from maytom
