Like everything in life, gardening has its risks, and it can go really well or really badly. Unfortunately these are things we can't predict, and all we can do is hope and wish for the best.
Happy #hivegarden day friends, hope you had an amazing weekend. Mine was spent with some flu sickness and getting some long overdue work done. And that is that I finally decided on what to do with my tomato and paprika seedlings, the ones that were born on eggshells and grown on a platform,
remember.
In my last report I showed you how big they were and that even in the small bags where they were planted they had already started to flower and bear fruit, so I had to decide between buying bigger gardening bags to transplant them or doing it directly in the ground, and that was my dilemma, because the ants issue at home is very difficult to control and that's precisely why they were on the platform.
But after much thought we decided that the best thing for them is to be directly in the ground so that they can grow with total freedom, but this is going to confront us with two big problems; and the ants of course are the biggest of all, and finally the soil, because the one at home is not the best of all. So we will see how they respond to the change. We have to help them with vitamins and of course with the commercial insecticides that I wanted to avoid from the beginning.
Since the tomato plants are sunny, and the paprika plants not so much, we had to plant them in different areas of the house according to their needs, so the tomato plants were planted in the garden and the paprika plants in the patio under some larger trees that give them some protection.
For those who have not followed me in this project, I tell you that we had 20 tomato plants and 6 paprika plants, but those numbers changed a bit because an aunt was visiting us and asked us for some tomato plants, and the same happened with my husband's mother, to whom we also gave a paprika plant.
So after all, we kept 11 tomato and 5 paprika ones, which is a good amount, although not all of them are as nice and we don't know how they will evolve. The tomato ones are not the same and we don't know how they will evolve, because the paprika ones are beautiful.
Finally, having decided the place where we would plant them, the first thing to do was to level the soil, dig the holes and prepare it to receive our babies, and for this we added some dry leaves, sticks and organic material that over time will decompose and provide a little richness to the soil.
After this step we moistened the soil and began the work of carefully removing them from the bags and placing them in place. Finally we covered very well and watered again.
Now we just have to wait and see how they react to the change and the strong sun these days, and of course start our fight with the ants. For now, and for today, I added the coffee residues after straining, because it is supposed to help to drive them away (I don't have much faith in this), and tomorrow we will be buying the poison, because we don't want them to die in the hands of the ants after so much.
As you can see, not everything depends on the care we take, but on the conditions of the soil and even the weather, but we do our best to minimize the risks and obtain better results.
We hope that this time the results are positive and everything we have done for them since they were planted begins to pay off, literally speaking hahaha.

Como todo en la vida la jardinería tiene sus riesgos, y puede que salga muy bien o realmente mal. Lamentablemente son cosas que no podemos predecir, y lo único que podemos hacer es esperar y desear que todo marche bien.
Feliz día amigos de #hivegarden, espero hayan tenido un increíble fin de semana. El mío transcurrió con algo de malestar gripal y haciendo un trabajo que se había retrasado por mucho tiempo. Y es que al fin me decidí sobre qué hacer con mis matitas de tomate y pimentón, aquellas que nacieron en cáscaras de huevo y crecieron sobre una plataforma, ¿recuerdan?.
En mi último reporte les mostré lo grandes que estaban y que incluso en las pequeñas bolsitas donde fueron sembradas ya habían comenzado a florecer y dar fruto, por lo que debía decidir entre comprar bolsas de jardinería más grandes para transplantarlas o hacerlo directamente en la tierra, y ése era mi dilema, pues el tema de las hormigas en casa es muy difícil de controlar y por eso precisamente estaban sobre la plataforma.
Pero después de mucho pensar decidimos que lo mejor para ellas es estar directamente en el suelo para que puedan crecer con total libertad, pero esto nos va a enfrentar con dos grandes problemas; y las hormigas por supuesto es el mayor de todos. Finalmente el suelo, porque el de casa no es el mejor de todos, así que veremos cómo responden al cambio. Nos toca ayudarlas con vitaminas y por supuesto con los insecticidas comerciales que desde un principio quería evitar.
Como las matas de tomate son de sol, y las de pimentón no tanto, tuvimos que sembrarlas en diferentes zonas de la casa según sus necesidades, por lo que las de tomate fueron sembradas en el jardín y las de pimentón en el patio debajo de algunos árboles más grandes que les brinden un poco de protección.
Y para los que no me han seguido en este proyecto, les cuento que teníamos 20 plantitas de tomate y 6 de pimentón, pero esos números variaron un poco pues una tía estuvo de visita en casa y nos pidió unas de tomate, y lo mismo ocurrió con la mamá de mi esposo, a quien adicionalmente le regalamos una de pimentón.
Así que después de todo, conservamos 12 de tomate y 5 de pimentón, lo que representa una buena cantidad, aunque no todas están igual de lindas y no sabemos cómo puedan evolucionar. Eso con respecto a las de tomate, pues las de pimentón están preciosas.
En fin, decidido el lugar donde las sembraríamos, lo primero era emparejar la tierra, cavar los hoyos y prepararlo todo para recibir a nuestras bebés, y para ello agregamos algo de hojas secas, palitos y material orgánico que con el tiempo se irán descomponiendo y aportarán un poco de riqueza al suelo.
Luego de este paso humedecimos la tierra y comenzamos el trabajo de sacarlas cuidadosamente de las bolsas y colocarlas en su lugar. Finalmente cubrimos muy bien y volvimos a regar.
Ahora sólo nos queda esperar y ver cómo reaccionan al cambio y al sol tan fuerte que está haciendo en estos días, y por supuesto comenzar nuestra lucha con las hormigas. Por lo pronto, y por hoy, les agregué los residuos del café luego de ser colado, pues se supone ayuda a auyentarlas (no le tengo mucha fe a esto), y ya mañana estaremos comprando el veneno, pues no queremos que después de tanto mueran en manos de las hormiga.
Como ven, no todo depende del cuidado que le demos, sino de las condiciones del suelo e incluso las del clima, pero hacemos todo lo posible por minimizar los riesgos y obtener mejores resultados.
Esperamos que en esta oportunidad los resultados sean positivos y todo lo que hemos hecho por ellas desde que fueron sembradas comience a rendir frutos, literalmente hablando jajaja.
