It was was never in plan, but a visit to a nursery changed everything.
Our Summer is pretty harsh and for that reason, I am not motivated to do any gardening activities, because it needs lot of effort, especially watering them twice every day. Had it been an independent house, like my native, it would have been easy, but here its a bit difficult. But still this summer has been an exception as I have planted all seasoned inca after eight years ( in summer). It all started with my visit to a nursery on road side, while coming back from AIIMS, as mentioned in my previous post.
This nursery is on the road side of National highway and just to change my mode I stopped there but then what I saw motivated me to put up the summer garden.
They had a very solid collection of very healthy plants, that felt like I should not miss the opportunity. I have never seen such healthy plants in recent times, usually I buy small saplings from the govt nursery, that need immediate care. But this was good to be kept for some time before being replanted, so there was no hurry to make the pots ready and plant them immediately.
Initially I picked six plants, but during my next visit to collect my reports, I picked another nine. And to just to give you the background, these plants are transported from Kolkata or nearby cities of West Bengal, our neighboring state, where flower farming is very popular and practiced by many people. About ninety percent of flowers selling in my place comes from Kolkata, they have kind of mastered inca farming, kudos to their hard work and dedication. People of West Bengal are very hard working and dedicated and now a days, even we are seeing most of the building work in my place done by them. They come in a big team, stay and finish the work. Contrast to that, people of my state are extremely lazy, and are giving up farming, which is disappointing.
The nursery has a nice collection of several other plants and all of them are transported from West Bengal - they are like a selling point. Every day many night coach buses are plying from my city and they have set up a nice network to bring these plants while coming back, creating business opportunity for everyone. Total area of the place would be merely few thousand square feet, but they are selling a lot more than our govt nursery spanning over several hundred acres of area.
A packet of soil selling at 125₹ - I was a little shocked, but that's the harsh reality - Convenience has a hefty price. More to come on the growth of these plants in my garden.....
