I can't even imagine what I would do...may be grow in the balcony at least...
I have been gardening since the age of 18, for more than three decades. Being a son of an agriculturalist (Dad holds a masters degree in agriculture), Dad always inspired me, when he was doing gardening, giving me all the heavy load. Back then we were growing all kinds of vegetables at home. Even though I stay in a rented place, you have seen, how much I fight with the society to continue doing the garden, even after they have created so many challenges. And everyone loves to spend some moments in a beautiful garden, even though many people do not say that upfront - that is the reason I have some supporters in my society, who stand behind me.
I can't even imagine what I would do if I am not allowed to garden anymore. I feel there would be no such moment, because who can stop me to plant few pots in my balcony at least ? The society may ask me to stop gardening in the place where it's now present, but I have clearly communicated to them that they need to give me another place, before taking this over. Worst to worst, I will always have few pots in my balcony and of course, in my native. I have plans to do more intense gardening after retirement in fact - growing my own vegetables, fully organic. Of late I am not doing everything on my own, as I don't have the same strength because of age factor, but then I am hiring people to do the heavy work and take care of the delegate touch that these plants need like a baby.
So unless I am down myself, I don't think, there would be a situation, when I will not be doing gardening - the pleasure that these plants give us is irreplaceable. And on top of that, organic food, has a whole different taste - only those who have experienced, know it. So someday, I believe, I will have a organic garden, a cow, a pond where I can grow and catch fish and feed my grand children (they would love fishing as well, isn't it ?) and teach them how important gardening is - physically, emotionally and health wise.
This post is in response to the Hive Garden Question of the Week 36 - a very intense topic, that every gardener would consider responding. And these photos are from last year - lets see how it goes this year.
