Hello Hivers, today I would like to share about my small garden, which is a small garden outside my home, and I also have some plants on my balcony. It has beautiful flowers, fruits, and sometimes I do use it for seasonal vegetables. Fruits such as guava, banana, papaya, sapodilla, Indian blackberry, lemon, sweet lime, mango, lychee, strawberry, etc., vegetables such as green chillies, bitter gourds, eggplants, tomatoes, cucumbers, bottle gourd, etc.
Since I work from home, this is my favourite thing to do; it’s like my passion. Because of the plants, a lot of birds get attracted and sit near my small home-grown garden, my favourite ones are tailor birds and sparrows. I also feed them grains. I love to see them sit, as they chirp melodiously. Just like birds, butterflies come too, as they sit on the flowers, to get the sweet nectar, and squirrels come too. I give them peanuts, so they hang around my garden more often.
Our little kitten, named Lemon, mostly roams around in the garden in the daytime. She loves to hop from one pot to another. Sometimes we shoot her photos when she gets kissed by the beautiful sun rays, and often she sleeps in the pots, which looks cute. Lemon has made a hole in the garden area and tries to hide there. Once when I got free from my work, I called Lemon but was not able to find her, it took me more the 2 hours. I was worried and checked all the places more than twice, and then suddenly I saw a hole in the garden and Lemon was inside it.
There are 11 pots on our balcony, all of which are blooming plants. They are beautiful flowers. Amongst them, my favourite one is the passion flower (and if you want to know more about it, you can check my last blog, as I have already written about it in one of my blogs).
I also have herbs that support me through my cold(fever) with sorrow. I have Tulsi, mint, and lemon grass, which I use in making green tea by adding clove and ginger, both of which are good in winter.
Moreover, besides our small garden, there’s some space where we sit for hours and hours in the winter. We chat often, we play with our cat too, chew on peanuts, drink hot brewed coffee, as we read books, and take vitamin D straight from its very own source.
I water them daily, and I make my own compost at home with biodegradable waste such as vegetable peels. I also make ciders at home, ciders like onion cider as well as apple cider, which are good for plants. I don’t use any chemical medication for my plants, keeping our cat in mind. But sometimes, when there are insects in my garden, which are harmful, I use a shampoo solution instead of any chemical pesticide. In the meantime, we don’t let our cat go outside, keeping her actions in mind.
This is part of my everyday life, which is colourful, peaceful and a corner where I feel alive. Sunset is very beautiful from here, and these plants make it more beautiful.
