In this life Water is very important for all living things. Without water, we cannot live.
Greetings to all farmers and gardeners here on hive especially here .
After three typhoons passed last September, the weather suddenly became very hot and sunny all day as October came.
After the three strong typhoons it hasn’t rained for three days, so our garden has started to dry up. Because of that, our cabbage plants are drying too. So inorder to prevent more damage to the cabbage, early this morning, my husband got up to fix the water hose so we could water the cabbage. Once the water started flowing, he also set up the two rainburst sprinklers to make sure the cabbages were properly watered. He set it first on the 1st terrace.
We used two rainburst connected to a single hose so that the cabbage could get watered faster. After about 6–7 hours, we move the hose to another terrace and repeat the process. That’s our usual routine here in the farm, especially when we’re growing cabbages, Chinese cabbage and lettuce, these crops really need plenty of water to stay healthy, particularly if some are already affected by clubroot.
There are also a lot of weeds growing around the cabbages because of the recent rains or typhoons, so we’ll have to remove them once we maintaining the other crops on the other area. Farmers like us truly rely on rainwater especially here on the upland, it saves a lot of effort and time. But then again, too much rain can also harm our plants and we cannot control the weather.
As farmers, we must take care of our plants no matter what the weather brings, unless it was affected by typhoons which is out of our control. If we neglect our crops, they won’t produce any yield. That’s why, even when it’s tiring and can cause body pain, we continue to work so that we can feed our families and have something to sell in the market for those who don’t grow their own food or vegetables like professionals.
Farmers are called the backbone of the country for a reason because no society can survive without food, and no food can exist without farmers. Without farmers, there would be no food on the table, because technology alone cannot grow vegetables without the hands and hearts of farmers. Am I correct? 😂
As farmers, we truly need both the sun and the rain but they should be balance. We need the rain to water our plants, and at the same time we need sun to give us time to work in the field.
But we cannot do anything because weather is part of nature and it's out of our control, So all we can do as human being is to take care and maintain our plants and hope for better days ahead.
Thanks for reading my simple blog.
Always take care and keep smiling!
Mabuhay!
