In the interest of being transparent I can't post about the community efforts I am undertaking without also informing this community about the government support that is happening around my efforts and what I am doing to accomplish them. Anyone in the US attempting to do anything similar I would like to help by presenting this opportunity that I am also attempting obtain.
The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) has recently announced the 2023 Urban Agriculture and Innovative Production (UAIP) Competitive Grants Program. This program is aimed at supporting community gardens and urban agriculture projects that promote sustainable food production and access to fresh, healthy food in urban and suburban areas.
The UAIP program is administered by the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS), a division of the USDA. The program is designed to help communities develop and expand urban agriculture and innovative production projects that conserve natural resources, provide economic opportunities, and improve access to healthy food.
The grant program will provide funding for a wide range of activities, including the development and expansion of community gardens and urban farms, the construction of greenhouses and other structures, and the implementation of conservation practices such as rainwater harvesting, composting, and soil health management.
Eligible organizations for the grant include local and tribal governments, non-profit organizations, and educational institutions. Applications will be evaluated based on the proposal's alignment with the program's objectives, the project's potential for success, and the applicant's capacity to implement and maintain the project.
The grant program is a great opportunity for communities to come together and develop sustainable food production projects that benefit both the environment and local residents. By supporting community gardens and urban agriculture projects, the USDA is helping to address important issues such as food insecurity, conservation of natural resources, and economic development.
It's important to note that this grant will be highly competitive with only 70 organizations awarded the funds. However, the grant opportunity is open to coalition applications. Organizations that come together and apply together as a group will have a better chance of being awarded the funds.
The grant program is also encouraging the inclusion of a project that would be used to find local farmers, groups and organizations in the search of purchasing groceries or in need of food. This would aid the grant approvers in seeing how the organization is attempting to tackle all of the objective areas.
Overall, the 2023 UAIP Competitive Grants Program is a valuable opportunity for communities to develop sustainable food production projects and improve access to healthy food. Organizations that are interested in applying for the grant should visit the NRCS website for more information and to begin the application process.
These grants are usually awarded to large organizations I would encourage that if you are attempting to do this as a small organization to partner with others doing the same within your community and find others that would vouch or support your efforts for the grant.
Soon hopefully I can begin selling produce for cryptos if / when that is the case I would gladly help others within the #Hive #community with their efforts as well. I'm not a big government type of person understanding that small governments can accomplish quicker and to a better ability, which is why I am always open to help others when it comes to this type of cause.
