I would like you to meet grandma agave. I got her about 18 months ago. She is growing so fast and her daughters are now having babies too.
Mommy agave
The other day my friend Kristen came over to help me with Grandma agave. Her roots were blocking the hole in her pot and she was getting water logged. So we took her out of the pot and I cut her propagating roots off. It was a little painful for me to cut her. I was wearing a long sleeve jacket in 107 (41.6) degree weather and still got some cuts from her.
She had a lot of handling and I hope she gets over the trauma soon.
Look how big her roots are!
Both Kristen and I took some of her roots to propagate. It was really interesting to see how white they are when they are in the soil.
Glad I could give you a little garden update. If you want to learn more about beautiful agave I did a Plant Profile: Agave post in June.
