It's raining or at least threatening to rain everyday. It's as if the rain gods are conspiring against me and trying to block all my efforts in the garden by raining down on my party. It quite sunny when I go up to my garden and the moment I start to water the plants or do some work in the garden it begins to rain. This supposed rain stops the moment I run back into the house. I am serious, this has been happening day after day in the past couple of weeks. I am not one of those conspiracy theorist I assure you.
It was then I decided that if the rain thinks it can get the better of me I will outsmart it by some means or the other. I decided to work creatively inside the house and make stuff for my garden. I way I would still get some work done and beat the rain at its efforts of spoiling my work.
I enjoy doing creative stuff around the garden. Coming up with some wacky stuff with things that would otherwise end up in the garbage. In this post I present somethings I created and I guess these could be my biggest disasters in the garden.
This first one I think would be the most disastrous one of all. I had a lot of masks which I had bought just before the time mandatory mask wearing was lifted. I still had to wear them anyways for about six months as I had various health issues and needed to be careful in crowded places. Well a lot of these masks were just lying around unused or scarcely used. I found use for them in my garden this way.
My worst fears are now coming true. I am being handed unused (so I am told) masks for this garden project (please note that I never asked for any of this). Right now its my family, more specifically my sons who are flinging their masks at me. My deepest worry is - this being a terrace garden what if my neighbors see my creativity and start donating their dirty, grimy masks to me. Would I refuse them and break their hearts or gracefully accept them and on the sly go looking for a mask crematorium to incinerate them. I guess I need to 'take down' this impending disaster right away, what do you think?
I used a similar picture picture like the one above as my what's app display pic, and what do you think happened? I was gifted with a huge sack full of coconut husks by my husband's aunt who doesn't realize that I don't have a huge storage space nor a garden that can take all this 'well intended gift' (?).
I agree maybe she was inspired by my creativity and I am ever grateful to her for that, but this huge burden (gift) is a bit too much even for my imaginative gardening ideas.
The third one (see thumb nail image, since only three images are allowed for this challenge) could be a bit of a disaster too if people knew how this came into being. I created this one from shreds of pottery, some drift wood and dried roots of a jasmine bush (I think) that died last year. What if my neighbors started to dump broken pots and dead plants at my door step? You think I am exaggerating? I tell you it is highly possible. Wait till you hear this story.
When people knew that I helped rescue baby/hurt birds and animals they just dumped them on my doorstep until I put a poster on my garage door directing them to a bird and reptile rescue center near by. This too after my back problem became so severe that I could barely walk. Then people in their generosity of heart stopped dumping living creatures on my doorstep.
I wish people would donate beautiful plants to me this way, no they are never so generous with such things. A friend once brought 50 soda bottles for me to recycle lol. I lived in a tiny apartment at that time. I wonder if people ever stop to think before they 'dump' hehe.
Another time someone donated a huge bunch of soda/beer cans. That generous soul didn't want their left hand to know what their right hand was doing and the gift was given anonymously. That person didn't want me to thank them for their generosity and make them blush.
Do you see the real disaster in my creative gardening? Can you imagine how my home would look if the generosity of my friends, relatives and neighbors start to increase? We would soon become the city's land fill in the most generous kind of way, don't you think so? However, the bigger problem is I may not have a roof over my head, the hubs may decide that he has had enough of me and my creative 'rubbish', and drive me out. Kindly please keep this a secret and don't let anyone outside of Hive know what I have been up to in my garden.
This post is done for the #creativegarden challenge. It's a fun challenge where you have to post just three images and write based on the prompt that is given for this month. The prompt I used here is 'my biggest garden disaster'. If you are interested in this challenge please check this link out and join in the fun. The more the merrier, besides there are prizes to be won too!
Thanks for reading, its fun participating in this contest.
