It has been a wonderful week filled with sunny days, flitting butterflies, and busy bees. The garden has busted out in all its glory to delight the senses. Today, I will share the different varieties of Peonies that I have at the moment.
I love this Peony with the frilly pom centers which always look so different on each blossom. You can see the centers can change dramatically from one flower to another as seen in the photo below.
This is the darkest and largest of all the peonies I have and the first to bloom as it is a tree peony compared to the bush variety.
Next up is another frilly-petaled one that actually looks like the petals are deformed giving it an interesting character.
This bright pink peony is my husband's favorite because it just pops in the garden scape. It really does put on a stunning performance for sure.
This salmon-colored peony has struggled since I purchased it years ago. I have even moved it from its original spot to another part of the garden. It has taken over 7 years for it to finally put out a couple of blossoms. One of which is a double type and the other more of a single-petaled blossom. I am hoping that now it will turn around and start to thrive in the new spot.
The star of the moon garden is this old-fashioned peony that was given to me by a co-worker years ago. She had this in her garden for over 25 years when she divided it before she moved into an apartment.
I have had this beauty in my garden now for 18 years and just adore her. I have divided it and placed it into three different gardens around my home.
Last of all, this is an offshoot of the tree peony that has come up from the base of the plant. It is a beautiful flower and at some point, I may try to divide it and give it its own place to grow.
May your gardens all be bursting with beauty for you to enjoy. Have a wonderful week ahead everyone.
Until next time, this is Sunscape
