It was much cooler outside, so I decided to make hubby his favorite Breakfast casserole. Once baked, I let it cool, then cut it into individual serving sizes. I freeze them on a baking tray before packaging them. He alternates the egg casserole with the pancakes, French toast, and waffles stored in the freezer.
While that was cooking, I went to the greenhouse and harvested the last of the greens and Bok Choi. Then it was time to pick all the spinach from the tower garden. Once that was all rinsed and spun dry, I packaged up the spinach for the freezer.
Then I planted the last of the Lobelia plants I still had in 6 packs. I think they will look so pretty in the tower garden.
I took some photos to show what was happening in the gardens surrounding our home. All the ferns are up around the porch and looking so tropical, which I love.
There are European Ginger clumps that have spread all around the pond and the porch. They seem to reseed quite easily; I know because I only purchased one plant many years ago, and now have a lot of it.
I was so excited to see that the painted fern came back. It used to be very large, but over the years it started to get weaker and weaker. This year it doubled in size from last year, and now it may be having a comeback.
Some more ferns are colonizing among the peony bushes. I may have to transplant them to another area come fall. They have spread throughout this shady bed and seem to be taking over.
I found a few clumps of Forget-me-nots in three different areas. I only planted a single one years ago, and now they have somehow seeded gardens apart.
This one seems to be much lighter than the above plant that is next to the pond. It is in the butterfly garden in the black-eyed susans. Funny how plants can show up where you never put them.
The Camassia is in full flower this week, and it sure is lovely with the sunlight coming from the south to highlight the blossoms.
I took another photo of the Lilacs; they are at the tail end of their blooming cycle now that the heat has arrived. I never did find time to make Lilac syrup this year.
It's too bad that the blossoms don't last longer, as they surely fragrance the entire yard.
All the Marigolds that are planted throughout the vegetable garden have started to flower. I noticed some honeybees already gathering pollen from different flowers around the garden.
I only have a few more things to plant out, and I should be done emptying all the trays from the greenhouse. Gardening season is in full swing for us here in Western New York.
