The last of the Lilac's opened in the past week and they put on a beautiful display, and they filled the yard with a beautiful fragrance.
The early morning sun really makes the Korean Lilac Bush pop in the shade garden.
I will certainly miss that wonderful fragrance wafting through the air.
The ants have been busily working all the buds on the various peony plants. They have swelled a lot this past week and soon they will be in full bloom.
This Coral Peony is the first one to begin opening. I ordered this special variety many years ago and it has finally grown into a decent sized plant.
This tree peony is the last one to bloom since it is in a shade location. The petals will be falling off with the upcoming rainfall.
The blue Cornflowers all opened, and I see that only one of the clumps survived the winter.
Next to the Cornflowers, the Verbascum has put up a decent number of stems and the flowers are so dainty.
I don't remember the name of this Verbascum, but I do adore the shade of this flower.
I wish I had some of these in the butterfly garden to grow along with the foxglove and delphiniums. I will have to save some of the seed to sow for next year.
Off the top of my head, I don't remember if they are a biennial plant or not. They sure are pretty either way and worth a spot in my gardens.
The last bud opened on this dwarf Iris; I will have to wait to see you again next spring.
All of the Hosta and ferns have fully opened around the porch. I planted some Fushia Impatiens in between them all for some color.
It was a decent day to put down the bark mulch around the plants so that was one more task that got accomplished.
The Italian Cherry Tomato has tripled in size, and I see flowers forming. Before much longer I will be able to enjoy the fruit and the lettuce for lunch.
Mika is inspecting the lettuce and deciding if she wants a leaf for herself. She loves vegetable of all kinds and sneaks a snack her and there. :-)
I have been trimming this red lettuce all week and I still have a lot to eat. It keeps sending up more shoots from the center. I will certainly be growing this variety every year. I just have to find the name from my orders since I didn't take notes.
Throughout all the gardens, these Allium bulbs are in full bloom.
I love how they look like they have an Aura around them with the sunlight enhancing them. I didn't realize how pretty the photos were until I uploaded them to the pc.
Both of the small tower gardens got harvested this week as the spinach was starting to bolt. I got enough for four meals put into the freezer. I have to say that I really love the Asian spinach with it's dark green and denser texture than the average type in this photo.
This baby Sparrow flew out of the nest while I was sitting on the porch, and it landed in the tower garden. How sweet is she sitting there looking out at a whole new world?
Lastly, this large Morrow's Honeysuckle has the most beautiful scent, and it looks so pretty on the back of the property. I harvested a lot of the blossoms to make a tincture or balm with; not sure which yet but that will be an upcoming post soon.
Thank you for stopping in for my weekly updates and walking with me to see what bloomed. ♥
