It's April, yay, spring weather is finally being nice to us here in western, N.Y. With only two nights dropping to the high 30's, I decided to move most of the flats of seedlings out into the greenhouse.
But before that happened, I upplanted a lot of them into larger cells to give the roots more room to establish. First up were the onions, which took quite some time.
They look so much better and are very happy to be out in the greenhouse. I bet they will send up new shoots this week.
The kale, cabbage, and cauliflower were up next. I put them into 4" pots to grow on until I can plant them out in a few weeks into the raised bed.
I'm sure they will grow quickly now that they have more room.
The snapdragons and lobelia really needed dividing since I sowed each cell so heavily; those seeds are so tiny, you know.
It was a tedious job, trying not to disturb the roots too much. But I placed them into 6 packs and hope that they do well.
They are in the shady area of the greenhouse to give them a chance to reestablish themselves.
The tomato seedlings and eggplant are still happy in the original flat, and they won't get put into 4" pots for another couple of weeks.
Three varieties of salvia are doing well and will be planted throughout the gardens for the pollinators and hummingbirds to enjoy.
I sowed too many petunia seeds, and I have no idea what I will do with them all. They are quickly outgrowing the cell, and I should just transplant them into the hanging baskets this weekend.
This will be today's job: dividing the lettuce and putting some into the hydroponic flats and into a tower garden. If I still have any energy left, I have more seeds that need to be started, and that's a wrap for my #midweek gardening update.
