With summer officially here, most of the annuals planted in May bloom nicely. I will share a few here for today's posting for a garden update.
The Louisiana Iris opened and it did so just before the rains came this week.
I get excited when I see her forming buds since it is the only one that has survived since I planted them many years ago. The wind and rain knocked it over so I picked the blossom to enjoy inside the house.
I purchased Crocosmia Lucifer bulbs this spring and they all came up except two that the squirrels dug up and chewed. I put a few by the pond and the rest are in the butterfly/hummingbird garden.
I have seen the hummingbird coming to the flower every day since it started blooming. I am so happy that I decided to purchase them for her.
One of my favorite daylilies is loaded with buds and blooms this summer. It has been putting on a grand display this week.
The nasturtiums at the edge of the shade garden have filled in.
This is my first year growing these blue flowers; I can't remember their names, lol. They stay short and leggy but the flowers are sweet.
The Oak Leaf Hydrangea and two other hydrangea shrubs have started blooming.
This Brugmansia planted next to one of the trellises has put out the first blossom. First thing in the morning and dusk the scent of these flowers is outstanding. When it is full of flowers the entire area is intoxicating.
I will wrap up this post on the few new flowers blooming this week and will do one soon on the progress of the vegetable plants.
Until next time, this is Sunscape
