Hi Nature lovers!
Since end of may, all the flowers and herbs are magically flourishing all over the mountains, such a spectacle of colours, smells and forms.
Some sisters gathered our female energies and went for a mission of collecting sacred herbs in the mountains.
We were looking for St Johns Wort (Hypericum Perforatum), Wild Thyme (Thymus Serpyllum), wild chamomile (Matricaria discoidea) and yarrow (Achillea Millefolium).
We went for a walk up to the mountain meadows, close to the pine forest and fields of flowers were dancing in the soft wind.
All these herbs have incredible health benefits.
St Johns Wort (Hypericum Perforatum)
-St Johns Wort, for instance, has antidepresant properties, relief anxiety, reduce humor changes, aliviate abstinence systoms, has antiinflamatory agents, for skin care...etc
-Wild Thyme helps reduce blood presure, cough remedy, help with the inmunitary system, help improve your mood, act as desinfectant.
Wild Thyme
-Wild Chamomile is very ancient herb, relief anxiety and depression, seasonal alergies, inflamatory conditions, premenstrual syntoms and other ailments, gastrointestinals conditions and much more.
Yarrow flowers, for wound healing, relief inflamation in the skin, for irritation in the intestines, bacterial infections...etc.
Yarrow leaves, (dry) for smoke herb mixes.
Back in the house, with all the herbs gathered, I started to make little bunches and hanged them in the balcony, away from the sun, for drying.
Most of the herbs will dry in about 3-5 days and I will place them in glass jar, out of the light for winter teas.
With the St Johnยดs Wort, I will prepare a maceration in oil, placing few bunches with the flowers inside a glass jar an pour olive oil (not of the best quality) over it, until everything is cover.
I will leave the maceration rest for about 2-3 weeks in a cool place, out of the sun, shaking every day and after strain it for external use in menstrual pains.
From the garden, I started to dry Calendula, for tea and also maceration in oil, for making balsam and cream.
Hope you enjoyed this journey through the sacred herbs and inspired you!
All the pictures are made by the Promised Land unless mentioned.
