Este pasado fin de semana me fui a La Guaira, Capital del Estado La Guaira/Venezuela, la cual se encuentra ubicada al Centro-Norte de Venezuela a 30Km de la Ciudad de Caracas, Capital de éste país… Llegué a casa de una hermana, ahí se aprecia una vista espectacular al mar… como se estaba celebrando los carnavales había muchas comparsas, tarimas con música en vivo, bailes, niños y adultos con disfraces, en fin una gran multitud de personas en dicha celebración…
This past weekend I went to La Guaira, Capital of the State of La Guaira/Venezuela, which is located in the Center-North of Venezuela at 30Km from the City of Caracas, capital of this country... I arrived at a sister's house, there is a spectacular view of the sea... as they were celebrating the carnivals there were many groups, stages with live music, dances, children and adults in costumes, in short a large crowd of people in this celebration...
Todo esto se podía ver del patio de la casa de mi hermana, pero hubo un momento que yo ya estaba aturdida de tanta algarabía y decidí alejarme e ir al otro lado de la casa, donde hay una gran montaña árida con mucho terreno seco de aspecto un poco desagradable, me acerqué y quedé sorprendida al ver la cantidad de cactus existentes en esa tierra…. Pasé largo rato ahí maravillada con éste tipo de plantas….🌵🌱🌿🎋
All this could be seen from the patio of my sister's house, but there was a moment when I was already dazed of so much noise and I decided to move away and go to the other side of the house, where there is a big arid mountain with a lot of dry land with an unpleasant aspect, I approached a little and I was surprised to see the amount of cactus in that land.... I spent a long time there marveling at this type of plants....
Los cactus aquí en mi país (Venezuela) son muy populares y queridos por muchas personas, ya que son fáciles de cultivar, ellos por si solos almacenan agua y nutrientes en sus tejidos, lo que lo ayuda a sobrevivir sin ningún tipo de ayuda (como es el caso en esta montaña árida y seca)… Ellos desarrollan unas espinas para defender esas reservas de agua y nutrientes …
Cacti here in my country (Venezuela) are very popular and loved by many people, because they are easy to grow, they store water and nutrients in their tissues by themselves, which helps them to survive without any help (as it is the case in this arid and dry mountain)... They develop spines to defend those water and nutrients reserves...
Existen diferentes tipos de Cactus, pero en este caso yo solo pude observar dos:

A estos lo llaman COLUMNAR, tienen el tallo en forma de cilindro y crecen en forma erguida (erecta) son hermosos y llaman mucho la atención, pero si los tocas será muy desagradable la experiencia… sus espinas son muy pequeñas, pero pinchan bastante.
These are called COLUMNAR, they have a cylinder-shaped stem and grow upright (erect), they are beautiful and attract a lot of attention, but if you touch them it will be a very unpleasant experience... their thorns are very small, but they prick quite a lot.
A estos le llaman Cladolio, tienen el tallo aplanado en forma de raqueta y desarrollan muchas espinas a su alrededor para cuidar sus nutrientes y poder sobrevivir…
These are called Cladolio, they have a flattened stem in the shape of a racket and develop many thorns around them to take care of their nutrients and be able to survive...
Los cactus son unas plantas suculentas y exóticas por lo que las usan mucho para decorar en jardines e interiores de casas y oficinas…. Les cuento q mi hermana me sacó unos cactus pequeños para sembrarlos en mi casa. Luego les envío las fotos.
Cacti are succulent and exotic plants so they are used a lot to decorate gardens and interiors of houses and offices .... My sister took some small cacti from me to plant them in my house. I will send you the photos later.
