There is no day that I don't dream of our future herb garden, there is no way that I see someone and I don't mention something about it and I think that I have mentioned it here already a couple of times!
Well, the field does exist and we do work on it. But what I don't usually mention is that it is an absolutely crazy project...
Due to a really steep incline and the earthmoving that has been done by previous owners, all the superficial soil has been washed out leaving the poor field more like a lunar landscape with some olive trees popping up, not in their best shape...
is working on it for four months now and he has done most of the work, but I did my best, too! Although I am not the strongest muscular girl I've met, I managed to help.
Everyone is doing their best!
Although it's pretty obvious who is the real boss here...
90% of the work has been done by the pickax, the mattock, the rake and the shovel.
I hope you understand now why I haven't written a word these days... The pain is all over my body, haha :)
on the other hand is doing pretty fine!!!
The whole design was made by Stefanos after a lot of discussions. I had another plan in mind, a bit more simple, but Stefanos came up with this gorgeous brave design and since he had the guts, the muscles and the mood to do it the hard way, I said yes. And I am so glad! Even though it was difficult and a very slow procedure, the result is the best I can imagine of.
Big rocks had to be removed.
Raising beds were made in order to avoid further landslides.
All plants that were previously at the field (mostly prickly ones) and pruned branches of the trees were chopped and buried in the beds.
In less than 10 days a few thousands baby herbs are coming and we have to be ready! Does it seem as if we are ready? I wish the days were longer!!!
PS 1. I realized that taking photos made me feel less guilty for my long breaks :)))
PS 2. I hope that the next post will have more plant life in it!
