We have had such a lovely amount of rainfall, these last few weeks, much more that we had this time last year. Because of this, the veggie garden has really taken off. It has been such a joy to watch everything burst forth with life. Although I am unsure how much longer I will remain here. Life goes on and I am happy once I can grow some food.
I planted quite the variety of lettuce this year.Mme and my girls eat salad almost everyday, so we have really enjoyed being able to pick our own recently.
I love this one, it is so beautiful, I almost feel bad eating the leaves, as I get such joy out of watching it grow.
We have been a bit late planting some veg, as we only created the garden a few weeks back. So the potatoes still have a while to go, but luckily we have enough water here, so hopefully they will
continue to thrive.
My tomatoes are looking good, they have plenty of sunlight where they are and they were planted with lots of manure. I have only planted 8 plants, all different varieties. I will get some more in the coming weeks and plant them out. I have bothered to label them, I quite like getting a surprise, as I watch them fruit.
I also planted both Broccoli and Cauliflower, I am also a bit late planting them out. But I am also confident they will do well, as I have so much more water here.
I can never have enough Kale, so this time i have planted two varieties. I use it daily in my smoothies and also whenever I make curies or stir fries.
I have also made kale chips in the past, they are so easy to make, and so much healthy than potato chips. They even taste better, well they do to me anyhow.
Next up is the spinach, another of my favourites. I am so happy to have such a wonderful selection of greens growing in my garden. That alone, makes me very, very happy.
I had to include this wonderful shot of the kale, where you can see the mountains in the background. I only realised after I took the photo that it was in night time mode. Hence the wonderful effect.
I also have some coriander in the garden, which will go so well with the tomatoes I have planted, once they have fully grown.
Last but not least, I have some strawberries planted. But not nearly enough, considering my girls love to eat them and I know they will be checking them everyday to see if their are any ready to eat.
For that very reason, I have planted a few in pots close to my truck, in the hope they will keep my girls busy and i might just get to enjoy some myself.
Having a garden really helps me stay grounded. I felt so uneasy when I was in the process of moving and then when I had to wait 6 weeks, before I could move on to this piece of land. I feel so much more secure in myself, when I have food growing, Growing food is one of the best medicines out there. Every single part of it.
