Hello friends in Hive Garden Community, many people like gardening as a hobby, but are prevented from pursuing their hobby by the reason that they do not have enough land. Even though we can be creative in utilizing used goods that are no longer used to overcome the problem of narrow land. Today I will use waste bottles to plant leeks.I grow leeks, because I often use leeks for various dishes. Apart from that leeks are also easy to care for, that's why I planted them in used bottles.
The leeks that I use as seeds are the leeks that I have used for cooking, because they still have the roots, so I soak the roots in water for 12 hours to prevent the roots from wilting, so the roots stay fresh and I can replant. I purposely use leek seeds that have been used, the goal is to save money, if this way I can still get fresh leeks after harvest, why should I buy new seeds.
1.I will collect used bottles, usually I don't throw away used bottles, I save them for various purposes. This is also a form of support for reusing unused used goods, thereby reducing plastic bottle waste.
2.Cut the top of the bottle and leave it as a place to hang the plastic bottle, the shape is like this.
3.I will throw away the brand plastic that is on the packaging, to make it easier I make a hole at the bottom.
4.Because at this time the weather was very hot, I just cut a little at the bottom of the bottle, so that the used water could come out of the bottle.
5.Make a hole at the top of the bottle, to attach it to the nail. I drilled holes in them with 3 inch nails.
6.Prepare soil as a medium to plant leeks, leeks likes a cool climate and high humidity.
7.Put the soil into the used bottle.
8.Water the soil in a plastic bottle, then allow a few moments for the water to seep into the ground.
9.Cut the roots and leave a little, this is to reduce the evaporation process in the summer and accelerate the growth of stems.
10.Plant the leeks in a bottle filled with soil. When planting, you don't need to plant the stems too deep. The most important thing is that the roots are already in the ground.
11.The land that I have is not very large, so I will attach the bottle that has been planted with leek to the wall of the fence. In this way, I can overcome limited land and still be able to carry out my gardening hobby.
Every time I cook with leeks, I will grow them like this. I hope that within two months, I can start harvesting leeks, so I can save money. Apart from saving money, I also don't have to worry about the manufactured fertilizers that farmers usually use in growing leeks.
