This is my first post in this wonderful community, where I hope to become more active and learn from the experts. It's a niche I feel will nourish my soul and spirit.
Recently, the Condominium Board where I live encouraged us to participate in gardening days to beautify the neighborhood. They're decorating the fronts of the houses with Christmas decorations, and it's important that everyone looks their best. So, I felt it was the perfect time to take care of my outdoor spaces and give them a little TLC. I went to buy some plants at a nearby nursery, and I want to share my new "daughters" with you—they'll soon be bringing life to my home. Welcome!
First, I have to say I'm shocked by the price of the plants. They're expensive for my budget. I remember when I lived in my old house, I could buy lots of plants without any problem, like going to buy bread. But this time it wasn't possible. All the ones I liked, like the palm trees because of their size and the space they took up, cost $20, $30, even $50, and I needed several to spruce up the front of my house.
So the gentleman who helped us told me I could buy smaller plants that were suitable for transplanting. They cost less, and that really cheered me up. Here are some pictures:
The following plants are commonly known in my country as **Crest of the Rooster**, and I love the contrast they provide when planted among other green-leaved plants. They have striking leaves, a vibrant red or wine red color, with dark green edges. Their leaves have a very distinctive shape with wavy edges and a somewhat velvety texture.
The famous Croton or Golden Spot Croton. These little plants are incredibly generous; I've had them before and they require very little care. They're very hardy and can grow quite large in fertile soil. Their leaves are long, narrow, and green with splashes or spots of yellow.
I bought two of these and I'm happy to have them because I know them and I know they'll be with me for many years.
The beautiful Bougainvillea, also known internationally as *Bougainvillea*, is very popular and beloved where I live. Its flowers are almost always in full bloom because we have a very sunny climate, though it's also quite humid, and these conditions are perfect for these little plants, which I also had in my previous home.
They are also very forgiving and don't need much care, but I will be keeping a close eye on their growth because they can get quite large, and I won't have that much space where I'll be planting them. Some people control their growth by planting them in pots, but I will do it by pruning them, since I'll be planting them in the ground.
I've never had these plants before, but I understand they're commonly called Arrowhead Plants. Of course, the shape of their leaves really caught my eye; they're beautiful.
I understand this plant can be either trailing or climbing depending on how it's cared for, so I'll have to experiment and keep a close eye on it to avoid damaging it. I've also heard that its leaves will grow substantially larger, which I'm very excited about.
Well, I have to confess that I don't know the name of this plant. I really liked it because of the shades of its green and white or yellow leaves. The man at the nursery told me they grow like shrubs, and I liked that, knowing they would take up space as they grew. The contrasting colors make me happy; I fell in love with them. I bought three of these, and I'm excited because I know that in time I'll have beautiful shrubs.
Later on, I hope to show you how my little garden is coming along, and gradually share my progress and new additions. I'm so happy to have these plants from such a young age, to nurture them, love them, and watch them grow. I'll also be consuming a lot of content from the experts in this wonderful community.
