Hello Hive friends! Today I wanted to share with you how my garden is doing. With the installation of an expensive Water Meter and working far too many days at the Docks last year, my plants all died. My veggies, my herbs, even my lawn grass...
And the three teenagers did not do much about it.
So I needed to revive what I could and start watering again. But it is expensive so I needed to apply some tricks to help save the water.
Shade cloth!
We are coming out of a hot summer now and there is a lot of wind in Cape Town. So air movement and heat both attribute to evaporation and thus whatever you wet the lawn with will just evaporate.
That is what the Shade cloth is for.
Below we can see a patch that gets regular water and how the grass has started to grow again. But...
This is what it looks like underneath the shade cloth. Notice that there is a lot more density to the grass?
Thus I have increased the amount of shade cloth is on the grass.
The Strawberry plant is still alive but I probably need to put into something bigger where there is partial shade.
I have some Spekboom plants in pots that are still from my cuttings from last year. Super hardy.... they managed to survive.
The rosemary plants I bought from the shop are doing well. Growing strong. Time to plant them out... I think posts will be best.
While I was working in the garden, Lexi came to visit me.
And then proceeded to "get cute" on me. Hehe.
"Why would you need to work here? Just admire me and pet me!" Is what her deal seems to be. Hahahaha!
And that is my gardening update.
Thank you for reading this post!
