Good day everyone! Zak here from South Africa.
It is nearly New Year's and so many people are making plans with us. Today, there is a Birthday, tomorrow is new Year's eve, on the 4th is Eternal Carnage and another Birthday... wow...
And I just went through the whole prepare for and then have christmas time as well.
Meanwhile my poor garden does not get much love. So yesterday I went in there and did some work!
With the STRESS of the new water meter billing me for every litre of water I pump out, it has been really nail-biting when giving water to my plants. I have probably been watering them less that I would have likes to but I am starting to figure out my budget and the plants are still alive at least.
Its a pity my veggies don't just grow like this vine... this thing is unstoppable!
The succulents in the pots are fine, some of the others, less so.
I should probably move them all into the full shade area.
I have started using bottles again to act as a slow release for water to the newer plants or the plants I transplant from where I grow cuttings.
This bottle has some holes at the bottom and if you only slightly crack off the bottle cap at the top then it dribbles water out.
The lawn is also a bit worse for wear and dryness, but really, I am focussed on keeping my veggie plants and herbs alive before the grass... still, I can't let it all die... Will need to water at night to prevent evaporation.
Well, hopefully I can manage this delicate balance between money and water so I can still keep growing veggies for the family... Otherwise I will need to find new ways to get hold of water.
Good luck out there!
