@cabalen/forest-folk-worldbuilding-contest-prompt-1-homes-of-the-forest-folk
Here's my entry!
I had some fun with it and tried to make it look a bit like a real estate flyer :)
The prompt was forest creatures, which in this case referred to anthro forest creatures. I thought of how they might like personal space, but to to still live close to each other, much like an apartment building. I also thought of how diffcult it is to open a door without a ledge. I started off with a wooden walkway but decided that shelf fungus fit more. And of course there's a ground floor since well, a forest creature could end up with a broken leg or in a wheel chair or something. Or maybe its an future entrance to an underground development?
It also seemed like it'd be a waste to not have some kind of homes in the upper parts of the tree, so I put a home braced in some branches. I tried to make it look something like a cross between a bird house and a tree house.
For furniture I tried to imagine what furniture made from sticks, grass, and leaves would look like. I am not a designer of furniture so here we go. I also thought about what sort of beds animals like, and many like nests so I made one of those, and then I was thinking of how much my cat likes hammocks so I tries to draw one of those.
The next element to think about was lighting. I initinally drew what kinda looked like typical electric lighting but as I thought about it I realized that didn't fit so I decided to go with lighting bugs/fire flies and made it so the lantern shape was a perch for them.
