Hey guys back with another drawing today. I am truly fascinated by how this character that I designed turned out. I used this red and gold 3-tier tray as my inspiration. I am not exactly sure if it’s a tray or just a fancy stand, but the shape was just too cool to ignore and the red and gold color. It's amazing how u can find art in the most random household items and give it a life.
I call this new original character that I made Traya, the Crimson Hostess. She is a magical guardian of banquets, making sure every celebration feels royal and festive. I really tried to bring the gold shine from the tray's handle in her elaborate headpiece and crown. The red tiers of the stand became her bold, royal collar and dress, which I think gives her such a strong silhouette. I avoided turning her into an obvious human like character as I want to preserve the lovely details of the tray.
I know the symmetry is a little bit tricky and some of the lines are a bit shaky, but I think it just adds to the unique, hand-drawn charm of the design. The blue eyes were a last minute choice to give some contrast to all that warm red and gold, and I’m really happy with how they pop. It was a bit of a challenge to turn a static object into a character that is almost like a person, but I’m proud that I pushed myself to try something so different today. Maybe the boredom made me do it and hope this is not the last.
