Prompt: Lantern Parade
This is my drawing for day 27 of the justdraw challenge. The prompt today is lantern parade. I thought I would draw this group of little winged creatures walking through a dark forest at night, each one of them is holding a glowing lantern. I wanted it to feel warm and peaceful, like a quiet nighttime procession where the lanterns light up the path and the trees. There is five of them I am just filling the space to make it look like a parade. They are in different colorful coats and outfits like orange, brown, blue with big soft wings and halos glowing around their heads. I gave them a pair of antlers too to make them more whimsical and forest dwellers. They are carrying these round paper lanterns that give off a soft warm light, and the snow is falling lightly around them. The background is deep brown trees and a dark sky with stars peeking through, so the lanterns really stand out and make everything feel magical. Getting the lanterns to glow without looking too fake is my favorite in the process. I had to layer the light softly and add those little sparkles so it felt real. The wings were tricky to draw; if I made them too big they covered the characters, too small and they looked weird. Positioning everyone so they're walking in a loose line without overlapping too much was annoying, and I carefully drew the halos to make them look gentle instead of bright rings. Even the snow dots I kept adding and removing them so it didn't look too busy or too empty .Anyway, here they are, my little lantern parade of winged forest creatures making their way through the snowy woods. What do you think? Does it feel cozy and magical or too dark?
