Hi Creative Hivers,
I’m back with a new drawing for the Downtown Awakening doodle challenge today. This is my interpretation of the steam and vents prompt. I wanted to capture that specific energy of a city waking up in the cold.
I gave this character a yellow jacket to make sure he stands out against the grey, misty morning. I used blue sketchy lines to add some cool detail and movement to the fabric. You can see he is bundled up with those fuzzy, textured pants and sturdy boots, perfect for navigating the city streets on a chilly morning.
The atmosphere is everything here; the downtown vibe and my character is stepping right through those thick, swirling clouds of steam rising from the vents. I love playing with expressions so his expression gives him that look of determination. I love creating his orange layered hair with an upswept bangs while pushing through the fog. It was a lot of fun to play with the contrast between his bright colors and the soft, hazy background of a cold morning. Hope you like it
