While I was at the DMV assisting my son previously, I decided to really test out the brushes on this PenUp app I downloaded recently. I have been searching for a digital brush that actually behaves like a real fountain pen, and I think I finally found it. Most apps these days just give you these perfect, thick lines that look too digital or like they were made by an AI.
I must admit, I really like how this brush has that uneven thickness and volume after making some adjustments on its opacity and all. If you look closely at the lines on the man holding the paper, you can see where the pressure changes. That wobbly, imperfect look is exactly what I want because it shows a human hand actually drew it. Nowadays, with so much AI art appearing, it’s important to me that my sketches still look like... well, sketches
I used a very simple color palette for this one just a few tones to keep the focus on the linework. It’s unbelievable how much you can do just on a phone screen while sitting in a waiting room. The PenUp interface is actually quite friendly once you get used to where everything is. I am using the free version and no ads at all.
Can you see the difference between a perfectly smooth line and these uneven ones? I think it gives the drawing much more character. I’m definitely going to keep playing with these settings for my next piece
I want to thank you all for your ongoing support and for taking the time to explore my digital sketchbook here on Hive. Your encouragement fuels my passion for art surely, and I'm thrilled to have you as part of this journey.
