Hello fellow creators
Welcome to my Charactober journey. For those unfamiliar, Charactober is a creative challenge where artists design a new character every day throughout October, building a diverse portfolio. I'm happy to share my very first creation for this year, born from a set of prompts focusing on inner fire and guiding lamps.
Meet Ignis Ringer
Lore:
Ignis is a spectre made out of reeds and different dried weeds much like a scarecrow. She is a guide deep in the woods whose heart flame illuminates paths for those who wander in darkness, She carries a reverberating bell the chime of which is a warning of peril and calls lost wanderers towards her heart flame. While her inner fire offers warmth and direction, it demands trust in the unknown, as its fire burns maps.
I'm pleased with how Ignis came to life, this is how I interpreted the Lantern Bearer. The motif clusters and the design hook I provided in the guide post helped me retain my focus and that is the aim. Hope you will also use them and take one or two hints to help build your original character.
Stay tuned for Day 2! I'm already brainstorming how to weave in the next set of exciting prompts while maintaining visual unity with our luminous friend here. What do you think of Ignis Bellwether? Let me know in the comments.
Here is the day 01 prompt details if you missed it
