Hi everyone. It is that time of the year again the start of October. I’ve been building this October drawing challenge I call Charactober. This is the second time that I’ll be hosting it but with different set of 31 prompts. This is the Wildwood Wisp, a character design challenge made to spark creativity and guide you through 31 autumnal, story-rich prompts.
I built the list around five core motifs which are:
Glow & Light
Plant & Growth
Stone & Structure
Ash & Smoke
Fading & Shadow
Each week focuses on one motif group, so you can immerse yourself fully in a mood, visual style, and storytelling hook before moving to the next.
Every prompt is written to help you in designing characters filled with life and inspiration. It is up to you to sketch them into being. The goal is simple: by the end of October, you will have 31 original characters tied together by the themes of autumn, folklore, and mystery. This is your chance to push your designs further, explore motifs deeply, and maybe even discover new favorites as you go along each day.
If you can, challenge yourself to finish all 31. Imagine the beauty of a completed cast of autumn-born spirits, guardians, and wanderers it will be like building your own seasonal lore and myth.
Thank you always for the support and for making these challenges come alive. I can’t wait to see your creations glowing under the Wildwood’s canopy. I will post the first prompt later today.
