Good day my friends here on the community.
I’ve been working on this interpretation of The Wind Song Composer for the Eccentric Street Characters prompt. I was spending a lazy afternoon around imagining this character playing his bone flute while the world dances around him. I am thinking about something wild and green for the hair. It was definitely the loudest, kinda leading the way for the rest of the sketch. I wanted the patchwork coat to look like a messy bunch of autumn leaves whirling around his body while those pink cherry blossoms spiral in a lively dance just like how it says on the prompt.
This eccentric fellow is named Sylas Gale.
He was once a simple street sweeper who got tired of fighting the autumn wind, so he decided to join it instead. He began stitching his coat from the leaves he was supposed to clear. Now, he wanders the downtown streets with his bone flute, and although some people think he’s just lolling around, his melodies actually keep the cherry blossoms in their endless dance. The lines are loose on purpose because I wanted that breezy thinking process to show in his backstory too. It’s a bit messy and quirky, but that’s just how he is.
It’s not about being perfect like I had always said; it’s about capturing that dreamy, eccentric energy of a song that can ripple lamp posts. Some parts feel a bit meh, but I’m just enjoying the process of exploring this character's story.
make, go with the flow, edit, meh, keep what’s working and learn from mistakes
If you could hear a song made entirely of the wind, what kind of melody do you think it would play?
